School of Ramps Aloha !!! support the School of Ramps . A indoor skate/bmx park that will be located in Puna , Big Island Hawaii.email [email protected] aloha !

my name is mike and I will build an indoor skatepark in puna with your help and support ! This idea is to help the community by giving our kids a safe bully free, indoor skatepark ! this park will have a day camp program where parents can drop their kids off and while you are taking care of business for your family we are taking care and teaching the basics of skating /bmx in a safe indoor facili

ty . The kids are our future and with not many things or activities to do in Puna our kids are left to find somthing to do that may lead them into trouble . I believe that this day camp program will allow kids to believe in themselves to give them somthing positive that promotes mental as well as physical health ! they will have fun in a safe place where they can express themselves through their talents . I have been skateboarding and riding bmx for over 20 years and through those years I have learned so much more than just rolling around on a board or bike . I learned social skills , hand eye coordination , confidence ,self respect ,respect for others a way to channel my fears frustrations anger and sadness into some thing positive . It has kept me out of trouble and i have built long lasting friendships through the love of my sports . What i hope to accomplish is to have a training facility to encourage the youth to follow their dreams whatever dreams they have . Its so amazing to see how far skateboarding and bmx have come . what started out as just asking for donations for simple miniramp setup on my property for my 6 year old niece and kids her age (5-12) where parents can drop their kids off and have me teach them the basics of riding / skating ramps so when they do go to a public skate park they have the confidence and the know how to have fun and not endanger themselves around big kids and advanced riders and skaters , but seeing all the support from parents and fellow riders and skaters made my think what a great opportunity this could be and how many kids we could help by having a big training facility ! i know that some thing like this is not free and will take alot of work and fundraising but i am 100% determined to making this dream come true not just for me but for our community and most of all the kids !

Hey everyone thanks again for supporting school of ramps! Sorry I've been slacking with uploading new videos I've been working like crazy. We are doing a fundraiser for school of ramps by selling some custom hammered copper jewlry and some really cool wood burning art. All of the funds collected goes towards getting the school going.. Update 10-12-16
Thank you everyone for your continued support ! We have been getting donations and we still will be building a mini half pipe on our property , we will start after building is complete with bmx ramp lessons for ages 5-12 , the reason we will be starting with bmx instead of skate boarding is we will not have top sheet on ramp as it will cost a lot more for Masonite and since ramp will not be covered yet it will not be ideal for kids to be skating it. But on the positive side sessions will be 2 hours long , we will be able to teach up to 10 kids per session and hold 2 sessions a day.
Materials needed for mini half pipe
200 ~2 x 4 x 8
20~ 2x6x8
20 ~ 4x4x8
75 ~ 1/2" sheets plywood treated
Used or new metal roofing 5ft lengths or longer
Masonite 20 sheets
4 ~ 16ft 1"1/2 OD black steel pipe
These learning sessions will be $20 per child per session , all money will go towards getting our non profit 501c3 that way we can move ramp and build our indoor park in Hpp . All donations received now will go towards building the first ramp at on our property and whether the donations are materials or cash it will be credited towards lessons for your child or if you do not have kids and you donate you will be able to ride or skate ramp when we have adult sessions ..... We need your support , the kids in the community need this.

I'm so proud of my niece, at 6 years old she is such a bad ass at everything , she skateboards , rides bmx , is a great swimmer getting first place ribbons , does front flips off diving boards , she can climb just about anything , she is learning magic , doing great in school , now she will be learning how to ride unicycles . This kid is super talented and so beautiful and when School of Ramps opens she will push herself to the limit not because I'm pushing her but because she understands that learning is fun and everyday she has a personal goal to overcome her fears and better herself . We made a kicker ramp the other day and she charged it she fell straight on her face but she got up and tried it again and today is the day she said " uncle after swim I'm going to land the jump off the kicker " She is absolutely amazing and I'm the luckiest uncle in the world .
