Las Vegas in a “Nut Shell”
First I want to give my deepest condolences to the families of the people killed during the heinous attack in Las Vegas. The indescribable atrocity enacted upon fun loving Americans is unforgivable. I will not say the evil person’s name because I refuse to give credibility to such a monstrous individual who would attack everyone attending a concert who came together to have fun and live life to the fullest in Las Vegas.
Police reported this monster had 17 fi****ms in his room with lots of ammunition to feed them. The villain used “bump fire” technology to deliver as many rounds as possible to a target dense with concert goers over 1,250 feet away from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Although not a full auto rifle, bump fire stocks allow rounds to be fired in rapid succession quicker than just pulling the trigger normally with a semi auto. This monster wanted to kill and maim as many people as possible. He seemed to plan for months his act of violence and had a plan to get away.
There are two defined categories of people. The crazy people who are emotionally/mentally disturbed and terrorists who enact and carry out acts of violence in the name of their religion, political standing or a combination. The terrorist category are as sane as you and I but are just plain evil in nature.
When a crazy person carries out an attack, something usually sparks them mentally and they attack unexpectedly with poor planning, wild/undisciplined actions and it is clear within a short amount of time they are not playing with a full deck of cards. Most of the time the “Crazies” are captured, (minus the Newtown shooter), and the terrorists would rather die for their cause than to be apprehended.
The Las Vegas shooter was neither one of the categories I listed above which makes him an anomaly. He was financially successful and no evidence found could portray him as crazy. The only medications he took was for anxiety and several of us need that kind of medication in our current lives now. The Las Vegas shooter seemed to have no obvious motives but he was very good at picking an elevated position to begin shooting, planning the attack, selecting targets and carrying out his act of violence.
The Las Vegas shooter had the perfect scenario to kill as many people as possible in a short amount of time. He had an elevated position, a high body density open air venue with limited ingress/egress points. Just shooting into the crowd yielded several victims. He chose the closest legal modification for his rifle to convert it to an automatic weapon so he could inflict as much damage as possible in a short amount of time. He also took the time to place remote cameras in the hallway leading to his room so he could see who was coming. He had an escape plan. In his elevated position, approximately 1,250 feet away and 32 stories up, the Las Vegas shooter was virtually untouchable from outside threats.
Now comes the talk of banning fi****ms and making stricter laws from the “Libs” in Washington. Any act of violence with a firearm seems to draw out the Nancy Pelosis of Washington to give a knee jerk reaction of banning all fi****ms. No laws in the world would have prevented this heinous shooting. The Las Vegas shooter purchased fi****ms from a gun store who made him fill out ATF Form 5300-9 (4473) and ran his name through the Federal Background check system in which he passed. In the U.S., states like California, Michigan (Detroit), Illinois (Chicago) and Connecticut (New Town) have some of the strictest gun laws in the nation and they cannot stop the shooting violence in their areas. All they do is come up with more laws to impede on the 2nd Amendment rights of their law-abiding citizens.
The solution we must consider here in the U.S. is we are living in a time of war both domestically and internationally. Internationally, our military and other agencies try to eliminate the terrorist/jihadi threat. Domestically, we must not become victims of happenstance. We must always be prepared for the worst and keep our “heads on a swivel” so we are cognizant of our surroundings and current events. My recommendation is to always be armed in public no matter where you go. Better to save 50 lives and accept the consequences of getting cuffed than watching 50 people die at the hands of a terrorist/jihadi or madman and the only thing you can throw at them are harsh words. The out-of-touch “Libs” can live life in their fantasy land of unicorn who p**p tutti-frutti ice cream but I choose to live in reality and want to protect my family and community. Be prepared, carry always and train often.
