IMPORTANT EMERGENCY INFO IN CASE OF A NATURAL DISASTER....
I don't like to "profit off of fear" so please know where my heart is (and honestly, the prices below are not much profit to me).....
These items are now in my personal family emergency box. If a disaster hits these items may come in handy, big time! Let me walk you through how....
PERSONAL ALARM- Last year when we left the house to seek better shelter from Matthew I placed a personal alarm on each of my kids. Y'all, it's only $15 and my kids had a flashlight and alarm attached to them. They felt safer and it was a little peace of mind. If electricity went out, they had light. If something tragic happened, they had an alarm. I only have 4 left.
ROAD TRIP AUTO TOOL- If on the road or in a shelter, this has a flashlight, beacon light, alarm, seat belt cutter, and glass breaker. A must for my emergency box. I only have two. Only $25.
GIMMIE A SIGN- This item lets others know if you need help if your stranded on the side of the road.... I have TWO and this is FREE to the first two who buy an item for their emergency box.... yep, FREE.
STUN GUNS, PEPPER SPRAY, KUBATONS- Safety, safety, safety..... Unfortunately, not everyone has good intentions. We always recommend layering protection. Yes, my gun will be with me if evacuating, but not to where it's easily accessible to my children.... LAYERED protection is key. Stun gun- $35, Kubaton (sock-it-to-me)- $10, pepper spray- $10.
In your box you should also have flashlight(s), batteries, non-perishable food, first aid kit, local maps, battery operated radio, baby wipes, dust masks, garbage bags and ties, wrench/pliers, matches in waterproof container, disposable plastic ware/plates/cups, whistle, can opener, pet necessities, meds, glasses if necessary, bleach. In addition you should have at least a gallon of water per person per day for three days, extra undergarments in plastic bags, and a blanket for each family member.
If you have kids- games, books, paper, crayons. You can do a lot with a deck of cards.
Don't forget you important papers like birth certificates, marriage license, adoption papers, insurance paperwork, social security cards, important pictures, and cash. These should be in a plastic bag.
