"Champion Life Skills Through Martial Arts" For more than 33 years, Mr. Derek Hull has dedicated his life to martial arts. His journey has taken him from demanding training sessions with some of America’s finest martial artists to championship competitions around the world. Along the way, he developed the discipline, knowledge, and practical experience that would shape him into a respected instructor and coach. Hull competed as a karate tournament fighter, earning numerous local, national, and international championships through the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA). One of the defining moments of his competitive career came in 2000, when he traveled to Sydney, Australia, to compete in the Millennium Games. There, he captured a first-place gold medal in fighting—an achievement that reflected years of preparation, perseverance, and determination. Hull also had the opportunity to study and train for many years with legendary world-champion kickboxers Joe Lewis and Bill “Superfoot” Wallace. Through his continued training, he earned a 4th-Degree Black Belt in Bill Wallace’s Superfoot System, a 3rd-Degree Black Belt in American Kenpo Karate through the Worldwide Kenpo Karate Association, a 2nd-Degree Black Belt through the Urakan & Kenpo Club of North Florida, and a 1st-Degree Black Belt in the Joe Lewis Fighting Systems. Since 1996, Mr. Hull has shared his experience with children, teenagers, and adults. His ability to combine proven fighting skills with patient, practical instruction has made him a trusted teacher and coach. Even after decades in martial arts, he continues to improve his training and teaching methods so he can help every student grow in confidence, discipline, and ability. His philosophy remains simple and true to his approach: “Keeping it real!”

Meet our Head Instructor:

For more than 33 years, Mr. Derek Hull has dedicated his life to martial arts. His journey has taken him from demanding training sessions with some of America’s finest martial artists to championship competitions around the world. Along the way, he developed the discipline, knowledge, and practical experience that would shape him into a respected instructor and coach.

For 10 years, Mr. Hull competed as a karate tournament fighter, earning numerous local, national, and international championships through the North American Sport Karate Association (NASKA).
