Eli competed in his 1st tournament this weekend. He won 1st in no gi and 2nd place in gi. He won 3 matches, all by submission, and his only loss was by points in a competitive match. Very proud of him!

Non-debateble!

There is much about jiu jitsu that is deeply subjective and individual. Your style, your preferences, your favorite moves, your learning of implicit skills is- but there is one thing that is straightforwardly objective and per case you’re either correct or incorrect - mechanical efficiency. You can be an individualist about many things, but not mechanics. The laws of physics apply the same way to all of us. How efficient your game is has many elements, mechanics is one of the most important. Any deviation from mechanical efficiency will cost you energy and effectiveness.
