After the bike touring season ended last week, I joined Leslie Long and Alex Riedman on a 3 day bikepacking trip in the Organ Mountains of New Mexico. This event, the Dangerbird, was with 150 bikepacking cyclists. The goal was to raise awareness towards the protection of the Organ Mountains and to the Northern Chihuahuan desert ecosystem. If you have a hankering to make bike riding even more challenging, load up all your items, ride from the sun up to sundown and then camp. It was a good time!

🚨🚨🚨We’ve got a new trip for 2025 — Pedal & Surf Camp — sign up to join us!🚨🚨🚨

We’ve long loved cycling California’s coast, and we’re looking forward to pairing that riding with afternoon surf sessions at LHCG’s Pedal & Surf Camp next April. This totally new trip was inspired by a week that Lizard Head’s founder, John, spent surfing near Santa Barbara with his son, and has been designed to showcase everything the Malibu/Santa Barbara region has to offer (twisting climbs, boutique accommodations, famous beaches, etc.) — while having a ton of fun along the way. Hang Ten! 🤙

Our first autumn tour of 2024 along the Natchez Trace Parkway concluded yesterday after 7 days of beautiful weather along an amazing ribbon of road steeped deep in history. With 440+ miles of "butter smooth" roadway, myriad historical sites, and low vehicular traffic, it is no wonder that this is one of our most popular tours.

Since 2016, Lizard Head Cycling Guides is the originator of the South to North cycling tour along the Natchez Trace Parkway - if you see another cycling tour company offering this version, they copied us!

Feeling blue about cycling season coming to an end? We’ve got the perfect trip for you!

On December 1st, and again on January 19th, we’re headed to Maui for our Tour of Maui! We first rode in Maui last winter, in support of the ongoing effort to recovery from the forest fires that devastated the island in August 2023. This winter, we’re excited to once again support the Maui community, and also to get back to the gorgeous scenery, warm temperatures, and quiet roads that make riding in Maui so spectacular!

Join us on our 11/4 Natch Trace Road Bike Tour, from Tennessee to Mississippi, to see the Natchez Trace Parkway yourself. This route features smooth riding — minimal traffic and gentle grades — and an amazing amount of history. It’s the perfect fall bike tour, and it ends in Nashville!

Texas’ Big Bend area is remote, beautiful, and… a great place for fall cycling? We think so, and the fact that our tour in the region features visits to Big Bend and Carlsbad Caverns National Parks makes it all the more special.
