Altering Your Ball's Surface

In Chapter 13 of Bowling Beyond the Basics we stress the importance of altering your ball's surface, what it does to your ball's path, and how, when, and why to do so.

The attached is a chart that did not make the book, so we thought we'd share it here. It lists the various tools for altering ball surface, in order from coarse to fine, including the approximate US sandpaper grit equivalent (lower numbers = coarser grit, duller finish). There is no authoritative source for this information, and different sources give widely varying grit equivalents, especially at the fine end of the scale. We have gathered these numbers from sources we believe are reliable, and in any case they will at least get you close. Enjoy!
