Big moment for our Opelika Parks & Recreation family!

We’re excited to celebrate Head Swim Coach Tyler McGill on being honored with a place on downtown Auburn’s Tiger Trail, recognizing some of the most outstanding student-athletes in Auburn University history.

During his time on the Plains, Tyler earned 16 All-American honors, helped lead Auburn to national championships, and claimed two individual NCAA titles. He also represented Team USA at the 2012 Summer Olympics, contributing to a gold medal-winning relay team.

Now, he brings that same elite experience and leadership to our swimmers in Opelika. Help us congratulate Coach Tyler on this well-deserved recognition!

The lanes are set, officials are present and the stopwatches are ready. Today is all about showing up, trusting the work, and seeing how far we’ve come. Time trials aren’t just about the clock…they’re about confidence, growth, and cheering each other on every step of the way.

🖤🏊‍♂️ Opelika Swim Team = Family 🏊‍♀️❤️

We’re more than just a swim team 🖤❤️ we’re a family.
And one of our favorite ways to celebrate that is around the table. There’s truly nothing like sharing a meal together.

One of the things that makes Opelika Swim Team so special is the incredible diversity within our team. We’re proud to have swimmers and families representing many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds and we celebrate that every year with our annual international potluck 🌍🍽️

Each family brings a dish from their heritage or background, sharing not just food, but stories, traditions, and a piece of who they are. It’s a beautiful reminder that while we may come from different places, we’re united by this team, this community, and our love of the sport.

Grateful for the friendships, the cultures, and the moments that bring us closer…one meal at a time. 🖤❤️✨

Early mornings, long meet days, team laughs, deck hugs, and cheering until our voices were gone — this season reminded us that OST is so much more than swimming. It’s friendships, support, and a community that shows up for each other every single time.
