There are so many things that you learn about when you become a coach that no one tells you about. The bonds you make not only as a coach but as a parent. The bonds you make as a coach to players. The lifelong friendships, the lifelong relationships, the lifelong lessons you learn as a coach, as a parent, as a friend, as a mentor. It’s very hard to step away from no matter what situation you’re in. The hardest thing to me is hearing “thank you for giving my kid a chance” when they DESERVE a chance!
Then comes the inevitable….. the betrayal, the dishonesty, the backstabbing, the lack of respect for coaches from opposing coaches, the lack of respect for coaches from parents. One thing I’ve tried to do as a coach was to make sure I coached the way I was raised. With respect and integrity towards the game.
Jeremy and myself have always prided ourselves on never trying to steal players, never approached players, have always tried to develop players from our tryouts. We have been absolutely blessed with amazing players and families throughout our coaching career together. Something that teams, organizations and coaches only dream about. Each one of our players and families made us into who we are as coaches and mentors now.
With a heavy heart… I will be stepping away from coaching to help focus more on my oldest daughter’s future with college. That being said I’ve got 10 kids I am wanting to get on a roster that they are going to help compete every single pitch. 10 unique players that bring a special quality to a roster. 10 players that ill take to any battle. 10 players that have that DAWG in them! 10 players that want to win, hate to lose more than they like to win. 10 players who truely know what it takes for the “Process”. 10 familes who trust in coaches leading, mentoring their player! 10 kids who want a chance! Please feel free to reach out to me if you’re needing players. I have reached out to some coaches already but I am still trying to get every single player on a roster. Thank you to the softball world and I’m sure I’ll be back one day. 😉
