Dear Wildcat Football family, I am very sorry to let you all know that I have stepped down from leading the football program. I have great respect for both the players and their families and truly appreciate the opportunity and trust that you put in me these last two seasons. The time commitment that is needed to turn the program around as the Head Coach and the lack of opportunity to have daily interaction with our players inside the school have forced me to make the difficult decision of doing what is best for our players and the program. I will always care for this community and these awesome young men. I wish only success for these young men and the Wildcat Football Program. God Bless our Wildcats and thank you all for the opportunity to lead them this past year. Coach Hutch

The Onsted Wildcat footballl team hosted the Madison Trojans Friday night in their last LCAA contest. The team battled hard, but ended up on the short end of an exciting back and forth game losing 53-35. Onsted scored first on a Connor Kish 1 yard plunge for a 7-0 lead, Madison then scored twice, and then Onsted tied it back up at 14-14 in the 2nd quarter on a 20 yard pass from Cole Wells to Cole Ruttkofsky. Madison got one more score before halftime to lead 21-14 at the half. Mason Chesser had a big Interception in the first half returning it 27 yards too. In the second half Onsted struggled to shut down the Trojan QB Brian Dopp as he threw for a TD and ran for three more. The offense came alive in the 2nd half behind another TD pass from Wells to Colton Chamberlain for 5 yards and two more rushing TD’s by Connor Kish. Onsted cut the lead to 35-41 with about 4 minutes left and recovered a perfectly executed onside kick by Landon Johnson, but couldn’t stop the Madison run game as they reeled off two more late scores. The offense was led by Connor Kish as he rushed 39 times for 320 yard and 3 TD’s, Jacob Ohlman had 8 carries for 28 yards, Cole Wells was 8 for 16 passing with 2 TD tosses and 86 yards. As we near the end of our first week of the 2025 Wildcats football season I want to thank the staff and players for working so hard to get better everyday. We are off to a great start. Upcoming events include Saturday morning practice 8-10, then parents meeting 10-10:30, Moms practice for anyone interested in tackling their son and then the kids will be doing a 2 hour Card Blitz throughout the community. Next week all practices will be at 3:20pm, leading up to our home scrimmage on Thursday evening. Our fund raising efforts are more important than ever with the uncertainties of government funding each year. Please be kind to our young inexperienced salesmen as they go door to door and consider helping our efforts to improve our facilities and equipment for your boys. For $25 you will get the opportunity to save at least $300 in purchases over the next year. Thanks to all and Go Wildcats, Coach Hutch

Good morning Wildcat Football Families. Thanks for all the transportation, support, hard work and participation in our summer workouts, installs and 7 on 7 events. A very important reminder. Mandatory practice starts next week. August 11th Monday through Saturday 8-noon. Saturday’s practice time will be shortened, but at 10am we will have a high school players parents meeting, then Mom’s practice for those interested. Then the boys will be doing our Discount Card Blitz. You can NOT practice without a Physical, so please get that to the AD office this week or bring that with you by 7:30am Monday. If you do not have your helmet yet please come at 7:30am and we will get you fit for one. Our Staff and Team have worked hard this summer and we look forward to having a great season. On August 18th for our second week of practice we will start our after school schedule at 3:15 for most of the rest of the year. Any questions or concerns please call me at 517-404-1014. Thanks, Coach Hutch

Each Monday and Wednesday we will continue with our Defense and Offense installs from 8-9 before our 7 on 7 events. All lineman will continue to have their lifting sessions from 9-10 while the 7 on 7 events are played. There is a Lenawee County big man competition on July 15th next Tuesday that we would like to compete at if there are enough guys available. It will be at Siena heights at 6pm. We need at least 8 guys to compete in the event. Any questions please call me at 517-404-1014. Thanks, Coach Hutch

The Onsted Wildcat softball team played in the Annual Al Glick softball tourney in Jackson today. We lost game one 7-1 to Quincy and won game two against Jackson High 30-2. In game one Onsted out hit Quincy 6-4, but committed 4 errors and gave up 8 free passes. Megan Hunt got the start going 5 innings with Eva Barber closing out the game with a clean inning. The offense was led by Addisan Thompson going 2 for 3, Alyssa Sims a hit and an RBI, while Sofia Priest, Megan Hunt, Hannah Hill and Payton Edwards all had hits too. Onsted left too many baserunners stranded and couldn’t get the key hit to get back into the game. In game two The Wildcats came out strong against an inexperienced pitching staff and exploded for 20 runs in the first inning. That outburst was led by Hannah Hills 7 RBI’s in the first inning after hitting a bases loaded Double and a Grand Slam. Irelan Jones had a double with 3 RBI’s, Braelyn Valasek had a hit and 2 RBI’s. Other players with hits or RBI’s were Kaydence Fox, Emma Belanger, Megan Hunt, Alyssa Sims, Payton Edwards, Alexis Edwards, Sydney Keefe, Grace Teske, Alana Ramsey. Your Wildcat Softball team will be back in action on Monday to take on Michigan Center in a home doubleheader at 4pm. We will also be hosting the Little Wildcat OCRC softball kids and we have Parents/Senior night as well. Onsted is now 9-19 on the year with 6 regular season games left.
