Volleyball Recap from September 15

JV Volleyball:
JV continues to show improvement each time they step on the court. Against a well-rounded Clinton team, our girls competed hard and really stepped up. They battled throughout the night and put themselves in position to take the final set, just falling short at the end. We are proud of their fight and the way they continue to grow, compete, and never give up.

Varsity Volleyball:
Varsity fell in three sets to a very talented Clinton team. The girls came out a little slow and struggled to find our rhythm early, but the girls did a good job resetting and settling in as the match progressed. There are some good things to build on, and we’ll continue working on bringing that same energy and rhythm from the very first serve.

Both teams continue to work hard and improve, and we’re looking forward to building on last night and continuing to grow as a program.

The Onsted XC team battled grueling heat and thick mugginess today at the Hillsdale Jamboree. While the scores didn’t completely reflect the heart this team showed, today’s race gave us the exact blueprint of where we need to go and what we need to build on.

The Onsted Boys kicked things off as the heat began to rise against a fiercely competitive field. Nick Holmes brought the speed, improving on last week's time to capture an impressive 14th place finish. Alex Hunt, John Pfeffer (who improved from last week), Joel Sniegowski, and Carter Holtzbauer all dug deep to score for the Wildcats.

The Onsted Girls kept the grit alive as the mugginess peaked. Stylar Ross pushed through the pack for a fantastic 10th place finish, with Izzy Raglow right on her heels in 16th. Mattie Hallenbeck, Jaelyn Gwinner, and Brooklynn Trecy delivered crucial scoring performances for Onsted. Other than top 5 finishers, Lydia Sutherland ran faster than last week by beating that time by over 1 minute.

Tough races today, but tough days build tough runners! Way to lock in, fight through the elements, and persevere when conditions are at their worst. We reset, we refocus, and we get right back to work.

Next up for the Onsted XC team is the Al Navarro Invite in Blissfield on Tuesday, September 22nd.

Middle School Cross Country Recap!!!

The Wildcats battled through a warm afternoon at the LCAA Jamboree today. With the heat and a few kids fighting off sickness, it wasn’t an easy day to race, but they competed hard and put together some strong performances.

The boys finished 4th out of 7 teams, led by Malachi Cunningham, who placed 8th overall in 13:37. Caleb LaBeau had a big day, running a personal best of 15:11, followed closely by Hayden Jackson (15:15), Zayne Johnstone (15:42), Wyatt Lowe (16:09), Raymond Platts (16:58), Cameron Gast (18:32), and Lincoln Chamberlain (19:16).

The girls finished 6th out of 8 teams, with Madelyn Mullins leading the Wildcats with an 8th-place finish in 15:01. Lily Louden was next in 15:59, followed by Hadley Schaefer (17:11), Lucy Kormos (20:38), and Morgan Cattell (20:54).

JV Football had their first home game of the year tonight! Iman Hearn scored both TD’s in a 28-14 loss to Ida. Tate Theisen threw a 25 yard Pass to Hearn for the first Touchdown, Hearn ran in the 2nd TD from 20 yards out behind great blocking. Nate Riggs led the stingy wildcat defense.
