It’s GO TIME at HomeTown Sports! On Friday, an 87 ton, 145 foot drill rig rolled in to town ready to start the foundation for the facility that will soon be the heartbeat of hometown pride and competition.

Because when it comes to building something this big, it’s all about the foundation – in concrete and in community.

Appreciative to be a part of the team to build the new Hometown Sports Complex in Oneonta. Sand based natural grass soccer field with a hybrid style drainage system and some other really cool features. Stay tuned!

We are excited to keep moving forward, but it is important to remember where we began! Join us tonight on the concrete bleachers one last time as we glance back at the past and look to the future of HomeTown Sports.

📢COMMUNITY ANNOUNCEMENT 📢 : The old Bankhead Stadium is about to be expanded into a multi-purpose field and the stadium seating is to be dismantled!TODAY, Monday July 1, 2024 from 5 to 7PM, we invite any coaches, players, band members or cheerleaders who played on that field to gather together and reminisce. We also welcome any Rec League participants to join us. A group picture will be taken at 6PM. We will be capturing video anecdotes from participants throughout the evening as well.

HomeTown Sports is going to be an amazing addition to our community, but it will be wonderful to make this group picture and preserve some of our memories of the past from this stadium which was built in the early 1940's!

Please SHARE this post so we may have as many attend as possible!

Before a single wall came down, the team at Hometown Bank of Alabama had already been hard at work behind the scenes for months to bring this dream to life for our community. We are grateful for their partnerships with the Blount County Economic Development Council and the Blount County Commission and so many others. Thanks to teamwork, we hope to have HomeTown Sports up and running by the Fall/Winter of 2025!
