It’s the end of an era for Mariners Select Baseball. After six years in the program, since its inception in the Fall of 2020, Coach Mark Cresse will officially retire from coaching baseball in Southern California.
His contributions not only to this program, but to the entire sport of baseball at both the youth and professional levels cannot easily be put into words. During his 25-year coaching stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers, he formed the Mark Cresse School of Baseball, where he trained countless young ballplayers, many of whom would grow up to be Major Leaguers.
Over the past six years, we’ve been lucky to have Mark as a coach in our program. From 2020 to 2023 he took Mariners’ first team from 10u all the way to the 12u semifinal game in Cooperstown, NY - And for the past 3-years he led his 11u (now 12u) team to an incredible 91-19-3 record.
We wish Mark the best as he moves east to be with family in Louisiana where he’ll be coaching his grandson Rhodes for the 12u Traction Canes, and watching his grandson Burk start on varsity for nationally ranked Catholic High School in Baton Rouge.
