Our Mariners Select 9u Phillips and 12u teams are each looking to add 3-4 players for the Spring Season. 9u Phillips will be participating in the Irvine Select League and 12u will be playing tournaments only, as they prepare for their trip to Cooperstown All Star Village from June 11th - 17th. 9u players must reside in Newport or Costa Mesa / 12u has open borders!

Tryouts will be held at Kaiser Elementary - Field 1. 9u tryouts @ 9am / 12u tryouts @ 12pm.

This Spring will be the final season for Mariners 12u - A special group of boys who represent our VERY FIRST team to start the program as 8u players, and finish their Mariners Select journey with a trip to Cooperstown. Five years of growth, development, success, and friendship will culminate with the ultimate baseball experience - Five days of games, skill competition, junk food, bunkhouses, and buddies, all on baseball’s hallowed ground in upstate New York. Coaches Bibona and Jefferson have prepared the boys for this moment, and our whole program will be cheering them on through this final chapter in their Mariners Select journey!

Mariners 10u Fahey battled late into the evening last Sunday to bring home the TCS Desert Classic Silver Championship. Coaches Fahey and Harrison pride themselves on promoting versatility - Everyone hits, everyone pitches, and everyone moves around the field. The key to creating well rounded baseball players is to instill confidence - Regardless of where coach plugs you into the lineup, you’re prepared to perform. No team embodies the family first approach of Mariners Select quite like 10u Ronquillo. These players and parents have rallied around each other to build something truly special over the past year. From their first time taking the field together as a 9u team last fall, to taking out Gold Bracket opponents in this year’s TCS Desert Classic, the development of these players is unparalleled. If there’s one word that sums up the Mariners 9u Phillips players and their families, it would be “dedication.” No one in our program worked harder than these boys. Whether it was two-a-days in the summer, 3.5 hour practices in the fall, or sessions when the rain started falling in the winter, these players put in the WORK - And the results were apparent on the field. Coaches Phillips and Harrell built a competitive squad with HEART. Baseball is hard work, but the results are that much sweeter when you get to do it with family and friends! ❤️💪

Mariners Select 12u CF/P Carter Cox was selected to his second NTIS team this summer, this time at the 13u level. With a 2012 birthday, it means that Carter was “playing up” for the NTIS Champions Cup in Cary, NC.

No problem for Carter, who shined on the mound, in the field, and at the plate for his Southwest Stripes team. Wearing Ted Williams’ #9 for the week long competition, Carter helped his team to the Silver Medal for 13u, adding to the Southwest region’s already commanding lead (and eventual victory) in the NTIS Champion’s Cup.

Having played with NHBA Mariners Select since 9u was founded in 2021, Carter is a testament to the fact that elite talent can be developed at the community level. With the help of players like Carter, we’ve been able to build something special in the Newport Mesa community - Keeping the hard working, hungry, talented players at home.

Follow Carter’s journey as he joins several former Mariners players with the NHHS feeder team, for the 25/26 13u season!

Congratulations to all of the players selected to our 25/26 NHBA Mariners Select teams! Irvine Select League play starts this weekend, and games will be going all day Sunday at the Kaiser Elementary Fields. See you out there!

2025 marked the second year in a row that multiple Mariners players were selected for the USA Baseball Southwest National Team Identification Series.

Players go through several rounds of callbacks, and thousands of players are whittled down to final rosters of just 30-36 players per age group. The Southwest region covers all of SoCal, AZ, NV, CO, UT, NM, and HI, and is historically the most competitive region across the entire US.

Congratulations are in order for Carter Cox (13u), Rob Martin (12u), and Everett Wertman (11u). Each of these boys has been a part of NHBA/Mariners since 8u. They’ve grown along with our program, and this accomplishment is not just indicative of their personal success, but proof that ELITE baseball players can be developed at the community level.

Talented players don’t need travel ball - The cream always rises, and these boys are proof. They’ve represented the NHBA Mariners Select program with class - All the way from Newport Beach, CA to Cary, NC!

While Mariners prides itself in being a community-based program, we have officially announced our presence on the National stage. 💪⚾️🇺🇸
