Preseason Prep Basketball
Get Ready for the Season!

Get a head start on basketball season with our Preseason Prep Basketball program! Designed for players who want to sharpen their skills, get back into basketball shape, and build confidence before the regular season begins.

Sessions will focus on ball handling, shooting, passing, defense, footwork, conditioning, and team play. Players will also participate in controlled scrimmages and game-like situations, working on spacing, decision-making, communication, and overall basketball IQ.

Program Details
• Dates: Monday nights, September 14 – October 26
• Grades 4–6: 5:30–6:30 PM
• Grades 7–12: 7:30–8:30 PM
• Location: Oneida Recreation Center
• Program Fee: $25 per player
• Open to: Players from Oneida and all surrounding communities

WE HAVE A CITI FIELD CHAMPION!!!

What an absolutely AMAZING day for one of our local athletes!

A HUGE congratulations to Juliana Whipple, who WON her division this morning at the MLB Pitch, Hit & Run Team Championship at Citi Field!

Juliana, who also plays softball for OHS, earned her trip to Citi Field after competing in our local Pitch, Hit & Run competition right here in Oneida, and today she stepped onto a MUCH bigger stage and absolutely crushed it!

And this one is extra special because Jules has been working SO hard for this opportunity. She has continued to practice, improve and put the work in, and today all of that hard work paid off in a pretty incredible way!

She is a NEW YORK METS TEAM CHAMPION!!!

And how cool is this?! Before today's Mets game, she was also featured ON THE JUMBOTRON AT CITI FIELD!

We could not possibly be more excited for Juliana and her family! Seeing one of our own local kids start at an event right here in Oneida and then go on to WIN at Citi Field is exactly what programs like MLB Pitch, Hit & Run are all about!

Now we wait to see where Juliana's championship score lands as the Team Championship competitions continue around the country!

But today belongs to Juliana Whipple, OUR NEW YORK METS TEAM CHAMPION!!!

Congratulations, Oneida is VERY proud of you!

LOCATION CHANGE: PARKS PASSPORT IS MOVING INDOORS!

We’re moving indoors, but we’re definitely not slowing down!

With the possibility of rain and thunderstorms tomorrow, we’ve made the decision to move Parks Passport: The Final Adventure inside the Oneida Kallet Civic Center. Knowing our luck, the storms will probably completely miss us, but we just can’t take that chance!

We may have changed locations, but we still have an awesome afternoon planned!

Airtime Inflatables will be bringing their 3-piece obstacle course, we’ll have the Gaga Ball pit set up and ready to go, music playing throughout the afternoon, and of course, Miss Megan from the Oneida Public Library will kick things off with storytime!

Parks Passport Stop #5 at Lincoln Park has been postponed for tomorrow!

A new date will be announced soon, so please stay tuned!

Our special evening event at Mount Hope Reservoir is still ON as of now! 8:00PM-10:30PM!

Join us as Astronomer Bob Piekiel returns to Mount Hope for an incredible night of stargazing! Bring your own telescope or use one of the telescopes provided to explore the night sky in a whole new way.

Our Astronomer will be monitoring the weather throughout the day. He will be checking the cloud forecast tomorrow morning, and if anything changes, we will post an update right here on our page.

A huge thank you to the Oneida Family YMCA YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley for opening the doors to your incredible new indoor archery range for Parks Passport Stop #4 last Thursday!

A very special thank you to Steph and Autumn for being such gracious hosts. Your kindness, hospitality, and willingness to partner with us helped make this another unforgettable Parks Passport adventure!

Thank you to Miss Hunter for doing an amazing job introducing our young and upcoming archers to the sport. Whether it was their first time holding a bow or they had some experience, everyone had a blast learning from one of Oneida's very best instructors!

A big thank you also goes to Miss Megan from the Oneida Library for kicking off the event with a wonderful story and creating the fun "Out of This World" targets that tied in perfectly with this year's Parks Passport theme.

And of course... congratulations to Miss Hunter for once again defeating Coach Acker in our annual target shooting contest! This year, she was absolutely locked in, bursting two out of three balloons, while Coach Acker somehow managed to miss all three! She was definitely the crowd favorite!

If last week's event sparked your child's interest in archery, be sure to check out the Oneida Family YMCA Archery Academy in the photos below. The program is open to ages 8 and up and offers beginner, family, advanced, and adult sessions throughout the year, along with several free "Try Archery" days for the community.

Stay tuned for our final Parks Passport stop this Thursday! Airtime Inflatables & Event Rentals, LLC bringing their 96-foot obstacle course for what promises to be an action-packed grand finale! Please continue to check our page throughout the week as we'll be monitoring the weather. If the forecasted rain continues, we may have to move the event indoors. We'll keep everyone updated!

Thank you again to the Oneida Family YMCA, Steph, Autumn, Miss Hunter, and Miss Megan for helping make another Parks Passport stop one to remember! We can't wait to see everyone for our final adventure!
