Frankie putting her nose and natural instincts to work today on a 30 yard track.

Watching her nose hit the scent and follow the trail is pretty dang cool! We have big hopes for her!!

Weirdo showed back up.

He is on my list of a buck I would shoot even if he is on the low end on score.

Been watching my cameras intently. This buck was one that got away. These were the last pictures I ever got of this buck we called Aquaman.

I passed him as a 3.5 year old and the next summer he was all over cameras, then...gone.

Likely an EHD kill but a real kick in the balls.

Frankie has made herself at home. We will start her training soon but for now she has learned her name and mastered napping.

I shot a buck like this in 2015, admittedly the buck I shot was a little bigger, but I still call this dude "StrongSide Jr.".

Won't score worth a hoot but if he gives me a chance I will take the shot. Looks mature, his good side isn't even that good and its been a few years since I shot a buck.

Yesterday we welcomed the newest member to the crew. Frankie is a Wirehair Dachshund from a reputable breeder who specializes in tracking wounded deer.

Frankie will be trained to track mortally wounded animals to aid in ethical recovery.

She will start with the slam dunks this fall. Deer we know are hit well and deer we know are down; just to build her confidence.

So, if you happen to have a freezer full of deer hooves, I would take them cause mine died and I lost 150 pounds of training hooves.
