OnTheFlipside Flyball Team is on a mission to create an environment conducive to our dogs having fun! We recognize: (1) that Flyball is simply a game, made up by humans, and unnatural to dogs and (2) it’s a trained behavior, so, (3) both parties must be having fun during training and competition. We are committed to training in a way that hones our dog’s capabilities to be competitive. All traini

ng gaps are the handler’s duty to own, and not the dog’s. Therefore, the dog’s overall wellness is always paramount and we will conduct ourselves with a level of excellent sportsmanship on and off the mats to our competition, to each other and most importantly, to our most precious teammates –
our dogs.

Mid season recap + two tournament wraps ups!

Hard to believe we are already more than midway through our 2026 season. We’ve accomplished so much already, but we really think the best is yet to come!

We’ve been chipping away at our personal best, one weekend at a time. Last weekend we decided to try a completely new combination, Cajun, Bru, Lasso and Maybe over 9, dogs were flying….. handlers…. Not so much. Best time on the clock was 14.78, when we went back to look at line to lines the very first heat was a 14.12. Can you imagine! We will keep dreaming for now.

Every PB we’ve had this year has been a different combination, last weekend we ran a 14.580 with Kiwi, Bru, Lasso and Maybe over 9. On Sunday, we ran a 14.586 with Cajun, Kiwi, Hotshot, Maybe over 8. We’ve got a few months to dial it in!!

Weekend recap before the flyball hangover sets in.

What. A. Weekend.

A huge thank you to Asylum Unleashed for a great tournament. You never know what the Henry, IL weather has in store for you, tornadoes? 50 degrees and raining? 110 degrees? All things are possible! We lucked out at had warm, great weather all weekend. We love this tournament, especially the Saturday night potluck, such a great touch.

For the last few tournaments we’ve been trying to dial in exactly what our top line up is going to be on Frontside. We’ve worked so hard over the last 2 years to add new dogs and train hard and the work is finally paying off. On Saturday we ran 2 different line ups that were 14.7 on the clock and 14.45 L2L. On Sunday, last race of the day we did a 14.72 on the clock with 12 feet of passing, with the help of Flyball Vision we saw it could’ve been a 14.33. The pieces are there!!!

Not to be outdone our backside team hit a new PB or 15.311! Those dogs ran great all weekend, even taking home first place!

The whippets held down our team flight, Spicy, Scuba and Munchie rocked it! The future is bright for those knuckleheads.

Last but not least, Upside! With the help of our friends on Mighty Mutts, upside rocked it! Sync and the border collies were absolutely steady eddies, Hoopty on the other hand… 🤦🏼‍♀️

We can’t wait to be in Amana at the end of June! Safe travels everyone!

What a weekend!!!

While the time doesn’t “officially” count for anything but our open time, the new PB speaks volumes about the work we’ve done as a team. We’ve had our own ups and downs over the last few seasons. Everything seemed possible on paper but dogs didn’t seem to click. This year. We are putting together multiple variation of dogs that can run 14.5-14.7.

On Sunday we hit a new PB and then as we walked back to campers when we got weather alerts from Omaha. Severe storms were headed our way, predicting softball size hail and tornadoes. We made the decision as a team to call it and pack up to head home and get settled before the storms rolled in. All of us drive some kind of large RV or 5th wheel/trailer and we needed to do what was best for us. We are glad we did, see the pictures of the flipside crews huddled in their basements waiting for it all to pass!

We are just getting into a rhythm and can’t wait to see everyone in Henry! Enjoy some pictures from the weekend!
