Youth sports costs have increased 46% since 2019. That is twice the rate of inflation.

For families in Omaha, that number is not just a statistic. It is the difference between a kid who plays and a kid who sits on the sideline — not because of ability, but because of affordability.

Fair Game Project exists to change that. Because access to sport should never be determined by a family's income.

A future where Omaha Public Schools students succeed as scholars, athletes, and members of their community.

That is the vision driving everything Fair Game Project builds. Because when every young person has access to sport, to development, and to opportunity — we all win.

When everyone gets a fair shot, we all win.

On April 17, 2026, the City of Omaha made it official — right at the Fair Game Project All-Sports Summit.

On behalf of Mayor John Ewing, Chief of Staff Thomas Warren stood in front of our community and proclaimed April 17 as Fair Game Project Day in the City of Omaha.

This isn't just a proclamation. It's confirmation that the work we're doing for every young athlete in Omaha Public Schools matters — and that this city is behind it.

This is what community alignment looks like.

People don’t burn out because of what they do. In life, people burn out because life makes them forget why they do it.”
Inky Johnson said it at the Fair Game Project All-Sports Summit and it’s the truth behind everything we’re building.
When it’s all said and done, it’s not about trophies or titles. It’s about who we become and what we give. That’s why Fair Game Project exists to make sure every young person in Omaha Public Schools stays connected to their why. Omaha Public Schools Inky Johnson

We're here to create a fair game for all and close Omaha's sports divide. Our work is about investing in the schools and neighborhoods that kids already call home — showing them they can grow and succeed right where they are. Through bold collaboration and strategic investment, every young athlete gets a real shot at success.

Did you know? Research shows that youth who play sports score higher on academic tests, are more likely to attend college, and report lower levels of depression. That's why we're building a fair game for every Omaha Public Schools student — no matter their zip code. The data is clear. Sports change lives.

By age 11, most kids have already quit organized sports — and the number one reason isn't ability. It's not fun anymore. Too much pressure. Not enough joy. Fair Game Project exists to change that equation for Omaha Public Schools youth. We're building a sports ecosystem where kids actually want to play — because when they stay in the game, everything else changes.
