Jr 3* weekend at Palisades Tahoe went off. It was a big lift, with steady movement across 3 venues in 3 days, immediately coming out of the STOMPTOWN 3* Qualifier, but it was worth the efforts, utilizing great venues to show off the amazing riding. Skiers and boarders did a hardpack throwdown, applying solid tech to North Bowl, Olympic Lady and Cornice II Bowl for a high-flying Freeride competition.

Thank you to all who helped make it happen: the parents, coaches and athletes, volunteers, our teams of staff, Technical Directors and judges, plus our host resort, the Mecca of North American Freeride, and the event sponsor as well as our partner with whom we issued 2 new buckles to Rylee Watson and . We love this sport and this community is incredible!!

All photos taken by with our utmost appreciation for his talent and generosity.

Thanks to for the incredible video capture today at Jr 2* TJFS #3.

Flexing tips and tails, grabbing rails and open sails in Saturday’s Junior Freeride Championships. The teens went off using Chickens in the Cirque to express their creativity and athleticism, and the feelings of revelry, camaraderie, support and celebration shared by all were unparalleled.

Big thanks to our favorite capturer of split-second moments for sharing these photos.

Big thanks also to everyone at KMR for coming out and supporting these events with passion worthy of these athletes, as well as to the of Vail Resorts, without whose grant for lodging, we’d be unable to bring competition to the best venues in North America. What a privilege!

.w (Winans) is and always has been a standout Freeride skier, with a grit and determination necessary to match and support elite athleticism at the highest level. The TJFS alum won the 2024 Challenger Series, earning her a spot on the prestigious . We chased her across Spain, France, Canada, Georgia and Austria to pull her thoughts, memories, inspirations and lessons along the journey from her Truckee beginnings, as she tells us “I was about 12 when I first started thinking about making the Tour… I was so immersed in the Freeride world from such a young age, my ambitions just naturally formed as my love for skiing grew and I progressed.”

“My favorite thing about competitive Freeride is the way it pushes my skiing. When you put a bunch of talented skiers in a comp setting, they will naturally push themselves, and in turn, push each other; that’s just how competition works. But Freeride is unique in that we can still compete with each other at a very high level while also maintaining a supportive community. Everyone is stoked to see others put down a cool line. It’s a bunch of characters who just love skiing and pushing limits, and that shines through in the competitive setting.

“I studied Journalism in college, so I’m constantly trying to write and create while skiing, currently pitching stories to outdoor publications while also writing my own personal blog, documenting my experiences.” A talented writer and engaged citizen of her communities, we asked what skiing goals Britta holds. “There’s endless opportunity to create art through skiing, so I want to see what I can make out of it. Whether it’s film, photography, writing or other forms of media, I want to venture more into that side of skiing.”

On crediting her past performance and future aspirations: “On , the coaches and teammates there made me into the skier I am today. The Team re-sparked my my deep love for skiing and after struggling through injuries, my parents for the constantly endless support, and my two older sisters for continuing to inspire and push me everyday.”
