The Beat Box was created with the dream of bringing professional level hip hop instruction to the South Sound. With classes ranging from beginner to intermediate and professional - we truly have something to offer for everyone. In partnership with Studio West Dance Academy, The Beat Box promotes cross training in many different styles of hip hop and movement to provide skillsets that will allow dancers to thrive both personally and professionally.

Our 2026–27 school season officially begins TODAY at Studio West Dance Academy ~ and there’s still time to join us! 💫

Located on the west side of Olympia, Studio West offers four beautiful, light-filled studios, plus The BeatBox — our dedicated hip-hop studio designed exclusively for our hip-hop program. Add to that ➡️ an incredible team of 20+ instructors who are committed to helping dancers learn, grow, and LOVE to dance!

Whether your dancer is 2 years old and just getting started, dancing purely for the joy of it, or ready to take their training to the next level, there’s a place for them at Studio West! ❤️

DYNAMIX & EDGE AUDITIONS ARE NEXT WEEK! Dancers must enroll in the Beat Box Workshop June 22-23 (for Intermediate) and June 24-25 (for Advanced) to audition. Please use your FALL placement level to determine which camp/audition you attend. Ms. Kadie will be the coach. To register for the workshop, please call, email, stop by the studio, or log in to your Studio West account!

All dancers should arrive at auditions with a signed version of the last page of each of the following:

Hip Hop Performance Division Policies and Commitment Form 2026-2027
Code of Conduct 2026-2027
If you need a printed copy to sign, please see the studio’s front desk (and we will have some at auditions). No payments towards the PD Program should be made until you know your dancer has made it onto a team (the PD fee is separate from tuition for the Beat Box Summer Dance Camp).

Dancers may participate in The Beat Box Summer Dance workshop without auditioning for the PD Program, if they desire.

Not all dancers who audition will make it onto a team.

At least one parent or guardian should anticipate staying for a brief meeting at the beginning of the first day of the audition.

Team lists will be announced the week after auditions.

“ My name is Meka Vincini and I am a dancer that has trained in various styles including waacking! I love to enter all styles and waacking battles but I also love to be on stage. I enjoy performing whether that’s in front of thousands or just a camera. I have trained in waacking under Tracey Wong for quite a few years now but also have been training in numerous styles at Westlake Dance Center. I’ve had amazing opportunities to dance on larger platforms like Jimmy Kimmel Live with Macklemore, Ciara, and We Day at Key Arena!!”
