Unique attributes of the team
Go Fast Turn Left Racing started out on its own adventure into hydro plane racing in 2007 with the U-48 and the U-50. GFTL is currently only running the U-21 and has another Hydroplane Hull under construction. The Father and son duo, Greg and Brian take pride in their family values on and off the watThe grandkids Gunner and McKenna can often be found with the boat on race weekends helping with everything from merchandise sales to boat repair. Go Fast Turn Left team members are also considered to be part of the O’Farrell family. Does the team have assets that a sponsor could leverage? Go Fast Turn Left Racing currently owns three Leland gear boxes and four T-55 turbine engines. GFTL also has two display boats, the 1996 U-48 Leland hull and the 1982 Pay-Pak. You can often find these boats on display at various businesses in the Seattle and surrounding areas. These boats can also be found in local parades and business openings. GFTL is ready to meet the needs of sponsors. U-48 Profile
The U-48 was originally built by Fred Leland in 1996 as the U-100 PICO American Dream. The PICO won the National Championship that year with Dave Villwock driving. In 1997 and 1998, the hull continued to run as the PICO with Mark Evans behind the wheel. In 1999, she became the U-15 and ran under a number of different names for Greg Hopp. In 2000 and 2001, the boat ran as Znetix II with Terry Troxel driving. In 2002, the boat ran one race as the Silver Dollar Casino with Ken Muscatel in the cockpit. In 2005, the U-99 returned to the water as Lakeridge Paving with Jerry Kale behind the wheel, and in 2006, the boat continued as Lakeridge Paving with Jeff Bernard driving in Tri-Cities and Terry Troxell driving in Seattle. In the winter of 2007, Greg O'Farrell bought the boat and changed the number to U-48, to celebrate the fact that he was born in 1948. In 2009 the U48 had served the racing circuit long enough and it was time to turn this magnificent piece of hydroplane history into a display boat for our sponsors. Founded in: 2007

Driver Brian Perkins is available for meet and greets, personal appearances, photo shoots and interviews. Owners Greg and Brian O’Farrell are available also for sponsor’s events. U 21
The U21 was designed by hydroplane designer Dale Van Wieringen and built in 2007 by Kevin Aylesworth and the Freedom racing crew. The U21 was driven by the young up and coming Hydroplane driver Brian Perkins for the 2007 season. Unfortunately the boat was only able to run in Pasco, Seattle and San Diego with limited success due to Gear box issues. The U21, despite its gear box issues, displayed lots of potential with average speeds or 156 mph in San Diego. The U21 would sit out for the 2008-2009 seasons. In 2009 owners of Go Fast Turn Left Racing, Greg and Brian O’Farrell, Purchased the U21 from Freedom Racings Team. In 2010 the U21 was reborn with Go Fast Turn Left Racing with Brian Perkins as the driver. 2010 proved to be an exciting year for GFTL taking 5th in national high points. The up coming 2011 season has the potential to be the greatest year yet for the U21 Driver Brian Perkins and Owners Brian and Greg O’Farrell.

What a weekend.

Friday’s testing didn’t go the way we hoped, forcing us to swap motors early as we worked through some mechanical issues. Fridays qualifying brought more challenges with a technical penalty.

Saturday started with a successful qualifying session.

1A: 4th place
2A: 5th place

Following the heats Saturday we swapped gearboxes to get us ready for Sunday.

Sunday finally gave us the momentum we were looking for. We had a strong test session and the boat was feeling great until a motor failure brought things to a halt. The crew acted quickly to replace the motor and gear box before Sunday’s 2 heat races. We unfortunately received a penalty for not making it on the course in time due to a mechanical failure on the dock.

3A: 5th place
4A: 5th place

Racing is full of highs and lows and this week had certainly tested our team. A huge thank you to our Crew, all the volunteers, our sponsors, the photographers who sent all their photos, and the fans for sticking with us through it all! We are looking forward to a better weekend in Seattle at Seafair Festival
