Years ago when I lived in Taiwan, I learned that one of the worst insults one could make in Chinese was "May you have an interesting life". At the time, coming from a society which doesn't particularly value lack of change, I don't think I understood at the time.

After the last couple months, my ability to comprehend the sentiment is highly amplified. As some of you may know, for the last several months my family and I have been in the process of moving, from a house we lived in for 22 years, to a new place on the Eastside.

The experience was a nightmare, made somewhat less so by the help from friends. Adam Hale, Rubin Andrews, and Grant Johnson, were particularly helpful.

The good news is that the shop is completely up and functioning, for repairs, frame building, etc...

The new address for Stevenson Custom Bikes is 1111 Tullis st NE, Olympia, WA 98506. The phone and email remain the same 360-402-2234 and [email protected]

I plan to start keeping regular shop hours, 10 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday, but appointments for other times can usually be arranged. Since it is only me in the shop, it is a good idea to call ahead; to make sure I'm not in the middle of a project when you show up.

We just wanted to let everyone know that we are still open and business is more or less normal. We do ask that anyone wishing to visit the shop call Bill at 360-402-2234 before coming over.

We do expect some delays on materials we need to order, but so far no major issues. We will update on here if anything changes.

You’ll notice on the photo that the shiny lugs have been modified from their original form shown with the matte finish. The seat lug is probably the most drastically changed, but all of them have had their radiuses opened up, and other changes, with the hope of making them more attractive, balanced, and unique. No two lug sets I use are ever exactly the same.

We have a new update on the What's New! section of our webpage. Come and take a look.

This is a new road frame we are currently working on. Like many of the frames we’ve built recently it’s intended for fat tires, 26×2.3, and will be equipped with disk brakes. It struck me during the construction of this frame that while it had a number of “cutting edge” features, the manufacturing methods and form, were done in the classic style.

I think we finally have all the bugs that plagued us this Fall worked out so these should come out approximately once a month from now on.

I’ve decided I am going to discount to a limited number of frames and forks this year. Now, this is not going to include everything I do. The options will be lugged frame and fork for $2200 or fillet brazed frame and lugged fork for $2000. The braze-ons will be two pair of water bottle bosses, two down tube shifter mounts, exterior brake stops, chain stay stops, and under bottom bracket nylon cable guide. Very little of this will be negotiable without going to our standard pricing.

Included in that price is a single color powder coat, with our modern logo applied in paint by using a machine cut stencil, so it’s durable and as thin as a waterslide decals, topped with a urethane clear coat. If you wish to spend more on the finish work just about anything is possible. Jeff Pinard, at Forever Powder Coating, is one of the best pinstripe and custom bicycle detailing artist we ever met. We would specifically suggest having the lug set pinstriped to have it set off, which would be an extra $200-$300 depending on what other detailing you were having done. Email Laura at [email protected] if you wish an official estimate on finish work.

So if you are interested in taking advantage of this offer get in touch with us as soon as possible, this discount will be given on a first come, first serve basis and I’ll only commit to doing 10 frames at this discount between now and March. You can contact us by phone at 360-402-2234 or by email at [email protected]

Attached are pictures of the type of bicycle we are talking about making.
