🧠Sometimes you just can't explain everything with science and reasoning and data - as much as my left brain might appreciate that.

Sometimes you just have a gut feeling. Or you hear about someone's special experience and you get chills. Or you have a dream about a deceased loved one and it brings you comfort.

That is what the reiki session with reconfirmed for me. There is just so much more out there that we can't see or even fully comprehend. And I feel honored and blessed that she is willing to share her gift and her energy with us at the retreat this fall.

The retreat is half full, so be sure to snag your space soon!!!

🌞Summer is officially 3 weeks away, but I'm feeling the chill vibes already. I've been practicing on my porch and loving the fresh air & soundtrack that nature provides.

😌The bad news for group classes: we've outgrown the ability to have morning classes on the porch (well, that's kind of good too).

😀The good news: we've got two outdoor classes planned poolside at the Stonegate Swim Club!

🤩The BEST news: EVERYONE is welcome to join the classes at the pool! Not a member? No worries, I'll get you a guest pass.

✴️Join us for:

🌄Sunset Yoga to celebrate the Solstice
Sunday, June 21st at 8pm

AND

⛱️Poolside Yoga
Sunday July 12th at 4pm

🚨PS - New Students: Don't forget to grab your summer class passes for all the studio classes from 6/21 - 8/21!

You don't really "find" peace. You work for it -- or at least towards it.

By tuning in.
By giving yourself grace and unconditional love.
And by sending that same grace and love out to all beings everywhere.

Peace.

Here's why 👇

One of my personal training clients is an 80+ year old woman....who hates strength training. Like, really just dreads coming, doesn't enjoy it, and definitely doesn't want to do it. But she knows she *should.*

All of my normal suggestions (find a buddy, crank some good music, join a group class, watch a guilty pleasure show while you do some squats, reward yourself, etc) weren't enough to bridge the gap.....
..so I got fired. AND THAT IS OKAY!

First of all, she's 80 years old and gets to decide for herself what is worth her time and energy. AND, there are other movement modalities she does enjoy. She attends a water aerobics class regularly and rides her exercise bike at home. She also gardens and goes birding.

She is already doing a lot to maintain her mobility and independence without adding on an activity she really doesn't care for.

The point is - if you HATE / loathe / despise something that you *should* be doing, maybe it's not worth the perceived benefit. You are just fighting an uphill battle with yourself, and in the end you probably won't stick with it.

Fnd another way to achieve the same goal -- and find a little more joy in the process.

PS - she fired me one week and the next had the bright idea to start private yoga sessions instead 😍😍

I sliced my thumb nail in half cutting a bagel **picture in the next slide**

What's interesting is that it didn't hurt that much, and somehow the (extremely sensitive) skin underneath was barely injured. I did however need to find a way to prevent myself from ripping the nail off while I waited (WEEKS) for it to grow out.

I tried several things, but super glue was the magic fix. It held the nail in place and allowed me to keep using my thumb -- yes you need your nails to do anything involving grip or pressure on in your finger tips.

Even for something that seems so small and insignificant, the BIND (glue and band-aids on occasion) and the CONNECTION (counterpressure of the nail on the back of the finger tip were CRITICIAL to being able to function.

The same happens in our yoga postures - binds, bandhas, and connection make all of our shapes much more STABLE. And it's the same off the mat -- often times finding that stability in our connections with others.

Who is your super glue???
