The outdoors has a way of teaching lessons that can't be learned anywhere else.

Out here, there are no shortcuts. No instant gratification. No substitute for patience, perseverance, responsibility, and respect.

The outdoors teaches us that actions have consequences, preparation matters, and character is revealed when conditions get tough. It teaches humility when things don't go our way and gratitude when they do.

Many of the lessons that shaped my life were learned in places like this. Those lessons eventually found their way into The Man That I Would Become, a book about faith, perseverance, leadership, responsibility, and the lifelong journey of becoming the person God created you to be.
