It is with deep sadness that we share this news. The University of Olivet athletic department extends its sympathy to the entire Wildman family.

It is with deep sadness that we share the news that Ponch Wildman, head coach of the Olivet Outdoor Recreation/Clay Target Team passed away unexpectedly on June 4. Coach Ponch was a mentor and supporter to the many student-athletes he coached and a friend to all he encountered.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family as valued members of the Olivet Community, his family, friends, and colleagues.

Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 11 and Friday June 12 at Stroo Funeral Home, 1095 68th Street SE, Grand Rapids. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 13, at 11 a.m. at Ada Christian Reformed Church, 7152 Bradfield Street SE, Ada.

Add another accolade to the list! Bryan Carney from The UOlivet baseball team has been voted to the 2026 American Baseball Coaches Association / Rawlings All-America First Team! He is the first player in school history to earn this honor.

Bryan Carney has been named to both the D3baseball.com and American Baseball Coaches Association All-Region 7 First Team and now eligbile to earn All-America honors. In addition, he was voted the ABCA Region 7 Pitcher of the Year!

The University of Olivet has formalized its athletics leadership structure, building on a collaborative model that has guided the department over the past year. Sam Hargraves will serve as athletic director, Brandon Brissette and Jenessa Neal will be associate athletic directors, and Geoff Henson and Javier Smith will continue their roles as assistant athletic directors.
