The Tragic Murder of One of Racing’s Biggest Legends🥺
There’s race car drivers that are legends and then there’s guys like “Black Jack” Jack Boggs.
Out of Grayson, Kentucky, Boggs wasn’t just locally known, he was a proven winner at the national level. Long before social media, he built a resume that stacked up with the best of his era:

“Black Jack” wasn’t just a regional guy back then padding stats, he was a nationally respected winner & badass who beat the best on a consistent basis.
But in 2000, his story took a tragic turn.
Jack Boggs was shot and killed in Carter County, Kentucky, in what authorities confirmed was a homicide.
According to court records and case details:
• Boggs was involved in a physical altercation at a residence
• During that altercation, he was shot at close range
• The shooter was identified as Charles Dailey
• Dailey claimed self defense, stating he feared for his safety during the confrontation
• The case went to trial, where evidence and testimony were presented disputing that claim
The jury ultimately found Dailey guilty of murder, and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison under Kentucky law.
