Memphis Chapter EGA

Our next meeting is Saturday February 10, 2024. It will be at FAD Needlework, 6890 Autumn Oaks Drive, Olive Branch, MS. We start at 10 AM. This month and next month, March, we will be working on an Altoid Tin box. We will stitch a piece to go on the top and we will finish it as a small needlecase/sewing box. Samples are shown below.

The top of the box is 2.36” x 3.75”. If you have a small that you would like to use that will be great. Non members will be asked to pay a small fee of $7 for the tin and materials, If you plan on attending, please let us know so we will have kits available. They will have to stitch the piece themselves to put on the box.

I am attaching the information and some directions. Please look them over and print them out for yourself if you are able to print. We have the Altoid tins already but anything else you would like to use to make your box, please bring. If you have any questions, please ask.

It's that time again for another Late Night Stitch Night! We are doing a Halloween theme and will likely be watching Halloween movies. As always light snacks will be provided. Sign up is limited to 10 people and the cost is $40.

Sorry for being late this month. We will be having our monthly meeting this Saturday, August 9 at FAD Needlework in Olive Branch. We will be working on Rhodes Rage, a project with the Rhodes Stitch. If you are working on the project please bring your supplies and we will start working on the stitches themselves. If you just want to learn the stitch, bring a doodle cloth, needles, etc. and we can all practice. I will have copies of the directions, if you want to start the project.
See you about 10 AM. Bring any finished projects for us to love on and whatever you are working on.

This is a very nice exhibit by a local cross stitcher. Several of us went to see it today and loved it. Please take time to go see it if you can! We have to support our fellow stitchers!

Our next meeting will be August 12 from 10 am - 2 pm. We will be doing a biscornu tutorial and also getting ready to start our next project, Rhode Rage - all about Rhodes stitch.

If you would like to do the biscornu tutorial, bring a stitched biscornu with you. If you do not have a biscornu stitched, you can bring 2 pieces of an evenweave fabric, such as aida or linen, with a square border stitched with a running or back stitch. They must have 4 equal sides and be at least 30-40 stitches or 3" square. You will also need 2 buttons for the top and bottom, your needles, thread and scissors.

To learn the Rhodes stitch, please bring a piece of fabric, at least 14 count or higher, needles, floss and scissors.

Our July meeting is turning into a party!!

July 8, 2023

Come and help us celebrate our 28th anniversary.
We will have sandwiches and a potluck lunch. Coffee, tea and cold drinks will be available. EGA upcoming class information, a “brag table” (please bring some of your beautiful things to share) and probably some freebies and/or door prizes.

Join us Saturday 12/11 for our annual holiday party. It will be a potluck party - the chapter will provide a meat and cheese tray and rolls/bread. We have plans to make for 2022! There are sure to be some freebies, some giveaways or door prizes and we might even have a rousing game or two of Stitchopoly.
