For Rainshadow's inaugural 100-miler, it only seems fitting to pay homage to Rainshadow's humble beginnings, and the verdant slopes so many of you have grown to love (or hate, depending on the mileage), and so our first 100 will be where James created his very first race: Orcas Island! And even more epic than Moby-Dick. This event is open to participants who are at least 18 years of age and who ha
ve proven themselves qualified (entrants must have completed an organized trail 50-miler with at least 7,000 feet of gain between January 1st, 2015 and December 31st, 2015, AND/OR an organized trail 100k with at least 8,500 feet of gain, AND/OR have completed any organized trail 100-miler between January 1st, 2014 and December 31st, 2015; there should be no ambiguity that your qualifier is a “trail” run). All interested runners must complete the online race application and submit payment through UltraSignup. It is each runner's responsibility to ensure they are qualified for this race. There is also a mandatory trail-work component (Please see details below in the "general info" section). In addition to trail work, completion of the required races, all runners must also read, understand, and adhere to general Rainshadow race policies, Orcas Island 100 race-specific policies, and the Orcas Island 100 Captain's Log (your nautical-themed Race Bible, if you will). We will be accepting 170 runners via online registration on a first-come, first-come basis, after which time a wait-list will be initiated, and up to 100 additional names will be added to that list (again, on a first-come, first-serve basis; runners will have to register for the wait-list via UltraSignup in order to be added to the wait-list).
