Orcas Island 50k

Orcas Island 50k THE ORIGINAL Rainshadow Running race. One of a kind, and with tons of NW island style. Why run anywhere else?

The Orcas Island 50k (and its sister race, the Orcas Island 25k) is quite unique in the trail running world. The course alone makes this race special - old-growth forests, tough climbs, and spectacular views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound - but what truly sets it apart is the sense of community. With live music, great post-race food and beer, and a chance to hang out all weeken

d on a gorgeous island with your trail runner friends, these are the races that started the whole Rainshadow party weekends.

Our friends at The Wild Ones made a great video from the race this past weekend. It shows just how wet some of the course was and probably will be for the Orcas Island 100 Miler this weekend.

This was my four Orcas Island 50K, and my first return since completing the Orcas Island 100. Camp Moran and the trails that course the island are a special placeโ€ฆ

Hello runners! Did you know the parking lot at Camp Moran is very small? It would be a huge help to us and our volunteers if you all could carpool for race day.

At Rainshadow, we do our best to carpool to races - here we are carpooling to Deception Pass a few weeks ago (two humans plus a pup!). Talk amongst yourselves on this thread to find carpool buddies! ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš—

Who's getting excited for race day? We know we are! Runners can expect their pre-race email in a couple weeks that will contain all the important details for race weekend, but you can always reference the race page on our website (www.rainshadowrunning.com) for race details. We do have a few reminders to help with your race planning:

1. Friday night meal: we will be serving a pre-race meal at Camp Moran, catered by local restaurant, The Kitchen. We strongly suggest you buy tickets ahead of time so we know how much food to order.

2. Bunkhouses: there are still spaces left in the bunkhouses if you have not arranged lodging yet. They are located right at the start/finish line so no driving home after your run and they have bathrooms and hot showers. Mattresses are provided, but you will need to bring your own bedding.

To buy both the pre-race meal and reserve a bunkhouse please follow this link: https://ultrasignup.com/shopping.aspx?dtid=27418

3. Ferry: we encourage you to reserve a ferry soon as sailings around race day fill up quickly!

4. You will need a Discover Pass to park in Moran State Park and although you can buy them on the island, the ranger station will not be open that early on race morning, so we encourage you to come prepared.

5. Bib Transfers: remember that all bib transfers need to be completed no later than Saturday Jan. 27th. If you are the recipient of a bib, you MUST follow the link in the email sent to you by Ultra Signup and complete the registration (sign the waiver, fill out the emergency contact, info, etc). If you're not sure if you completed the process, you can check the public entrants list to see if your name shows up: https://ultrasignup.com/entrants_event.aspx?did=48865

Thanks everyone and see you all soon on the island!
