Orcas Island 25k

Orcas Island 25k THE ORIGINAL Rainshadow Running race. One-of-a-kind, with tons of NW island style! Why run anywhere else?

The Orcas Island 25k (and its sister race, the Orcas Island 50k) is quite unique in the trail running world. The course alone makes this race special - old-growth forests, tough climbs, and spectacular views of surrounding islands, mountains, and Puget Sound - but what truly sets it apart is the sense of community. With live music, great post-race food and beer, and a chance to hang out all weeken

d on a gorgeous island with your trail runner friends, these are the races that started the whole Rainshadow party weekends.

Living in the Pacific Northwest we all know what winter is like. If you forgot, it's going to be wet and chilly!!

We are sure that all of the participants are packing as we speak (no one does this last minute right?). As you do prepare for your adventure on the Island, please be thoughtful regarding the gear you choose.

Be ready to get wet. Whatever that means for you, be it a change of clothes in your pack, at the finish line, or in your car, know that you will most likely need it. A rain jacket isn't a bad idea either....especially if you anticipate a long day on the trails.

All in all, we want you have a great time regardless of the weather curveballs mother nature throws our way.

Start time in t-minus 2 DAYS 18 HOURS 48>< MINUTES

**Update from course marking**
It is going to be cold as well. PLEASE bring any and all the items you like to keep you warm.... like extra warm gloves, warm jacket, base layer, leggings etc etc

Hello runners! Did you know the parking lot at Camp Moran is very small? It would be a huge help to us and our volunteers if you all could carpool for race day.

At Rainshadow, we do our best to carpool to races - here we are carpooling to Deception Pass a few weeks ago (two humans plus a pup!). Talk amongst yourselves on this thread to find carpool buddies πŸš—πŸš—

The snow has begun up high on the race course. Could have as much as 8 inches fall by the start of the race. Most of the course will probably be snow free but up to 5-6 miles will probably have at least some snow.

We hope the park will be able to keep the road open for our volunteers to get to the Mt Constitution aid station but the road will likely be closed to the public. If the road is really bad we might have to move the aid station to cold spring or if the road is really really bad we'll have to use a snow alternate route that doesn't even go up mt constitution(we've only had to do that once though in 13 years, 2008 I think). We'll try to keep everyone updated but because the majority of the snow is not supposed to fall until Friday night it might be an early Saturday am decision which if that happens we'll announce at check-in/pre-race briefing.
