The Battie Mixon Fishing Rodeo is more than just a day of fishing — it’s a tradition built on community, conservation, and creating memories for generations of local families. 🎣

Many people may not realize that Battie Mixon himself played a major role in helping establish and restore the fishing ponds along the C&O Canal near Lock 70 decades ago. His passion for the outdoors and giving children the opportunity to experience fishing is what inspired this event that continues today!

For 78 years, this rodeo has brought families together to teach kids the joy of fishing, the value of the outdoors, and the importance of community involvement. Every cast, every fish caught, and every smile on the canal helps continue the legacy Mr. Mixon started so many years ago.

Thank you to everyone who supports, volunteers, sponsors, and brings their families each year. You are helping keep a truly special local tradition alive for the next generation. ❤️🐟
