Still trying to figure out how to put my gratitude into words…
This was a TEAM effort that started in the training. My husband who graciously does the parenting on weekend mornings so I can run far and whose belief in me encourages me to continue to push my boundaries.
My kids, who always encourage me and never make me feel bad about the time and energy I put into my goals.
My running community and friends, especially those few who always show up for me when the long miles get hard, offering company, support and encouragement.
The team work on race day…WOW! I could not have done this without my husband who tirelessly crews me. His steady calm, patience, positivity and commitment to my goal amazes me.
I honestly think I might have dropped without my pacers. Knowing I’d be picking up Christopher Colangelo (who ran 43 miles with me!) at mile 75, kept me going when I struggled with navigation and added several miles to my route. His constant certainty in my success showed up when I doubted myself.
The humor, energy and right amount of pushing that Vikash Vikas Malik brought to the final stretch is the reason for the win. When I saw the 2nd place runner come in just 15 minutes after me, I knew that win was only possible because of his supportive push at the end.
And a big thank you to Coach Evan⚡️Athletic Performance for putting on this race, giving me an opportunity to see what it’s like to go beyond 100 miles. I can’t even imagine the effort it takes to put something like this together!
My body is broken 😆 but my heart is so full, so grateful for ultra running, my community and my family ❤️
