Y-Flyer Fleet 62

Y-Flyer Fleet 62 We are active sailors who sail, race and provide instruction on Y-Flyers at Harbor Island Yacht Club in Nashville, TN. The The Y-Flyer is an 18’ fun machine.

It’s an easy-to-manage day sailor or a fast tactical racing boat. Y Fleet 62 was officially recognized by the American Y Flyer Yacht Racing Association at the Mid Winter Championship Excutive meeting in March of 2013. The founding fathers; Anthony Passafiume III and Ray Marley, along with Chandler Owen met about 1 year ago. Anthony has been a life long Y Flyer sailor, Ray a Captian of tall ships,

Chandler a jack of many classes, have started Y Fleet 62 to grow the sport of one design, in conjunction with other local fleets. All three have unique skills that when combined set an excellent management team. The fleet sails out of Harbor Island Yacht Club in Old Hickory, TN. With the support of Judy Netherton we have been able to reach out to many sailors new and old to the sport. The Y Flyer is THE BEST 2 PERSON RACING BOAT ON THE PLANET.

Our plan is to do more hands-on nuts and bolts how to instruction with parking lot chalk talks, on the water timer operation, flag handling, and mark setting.

We had three boats from harbor Island go to the midwinter championships. Ania Gorska and Chris Zitelli won the blue fleet (welcome to the gold fleet) and Anthony Passafiume and Julie Bollinger took third in the gold fleet. They took a bullet in race 3. It was windy and shifty so normal Lake Allatoona, AYC.
