But because it’s so individual, finding teammates and a supportive community can make a huge difference in whether young athletes stick around. Here’s what parents should know about helping kids find their place in swim-bike-run.

Owen completed the Tots Tri on Sunday a day after dad, Kevin Denny took first overall at the Kill Creek Park Triathlon. Looks like multisport runs in the family! 🤩😍🥰

IMPORTANT Race Update!
Kill Creek Park Lake is under a Watch Advisory from KDHE for HAB. Due to this, we are unable to swim.

All registered athletes will complete the below events/distances.

11–14-year-olds
• will complete Duathlon
• First run: .85 miles, 3 loops on bike (4.8 miles), second run: 1.7 miles
• will start on trail by beach house lining up by mile pace time
• will stay split into “open water” and “beach” groups for scoring.
• Open water 11-14 will start first with beach 11-14 going off about a minute after.
• time will start when they cross timing mat

9–10-year-olds
• will complete Duathlon first run: .4 miles, 2 loops on bike (3.2 miles), second run: .85 miles
• will start on trail by beach house lining up by mile pace time
• time will start when they cross timing mat
• expect to start this race once 11-14 have finished biking

8 & under
• will complete run/bike
• will start in a time trial format outside of transition. Will complete T1, then bike 1 loop (1.6 miles), then run .85 miles
• time will start when they cross timing mat into transition
• expect to start this race once 9-10 have finished biking

Tots
• will complete run/bike
• will start in time trial format outside of their transition area. Will complete T1, then bike, then finish running thru the finish line.
