Oklahoma City's 2024 Golfing Extravaganza (Because Apparently We Like to Sweat and Hack)
Strap on your visors, folks, because Oklahoma City's got a golf tournament schedule longer than a Texas drawl! Whether you're a champion golfer or just a champion beer drinker, there's an event for you (well, maybe not the beer part, but hey, it's Oklahoma!). Here's the lowdown:
April 21st, 9:00 AM: The Oklahoma City "The Bastards" Tournament: Cedar Valley International. This ain't your grandma's bridge club. The only thing more brutal than the course will be the playful banter between friends (or frenemies). May the best (or least bad) golfer win!
May 19th, 11:00 AM: The Oklahoma City MGA Tournament: Lincoln Park - West Course. MGA probably stands for "Maybe Get Another Hobby," because let's face it, how many tournaments can one city handle? But hey, if miniature golf is your jam, then by all means, tee off!
June 9th, 9:00 AM: The Oklahoma City F.U. Open: Roman Nose Golf Club. F.U. definitely isn't the dress code (we think), but it might be your internal monologue after realizing you signed up for yet another tournament. On the bright side, there's always the casino next door...
July 14th, 11:00 AM: The Oklahoma City British Open: Trosper Golf Club. Because apparently, Oklahoma needs its own version of a fancy across-the-pond competition. Just remember to pack your finest rain gear, because Oklahoma weather is about as predictable as your grandpappy's trick knee.
July 27th, 8:00 AM: The Dirty South Classic: Gatlinburg Golf Course. This ain't fancy folks, this is down-home golf with sweet tea breaks and mosquitos the size of bumblebees. But hey, there's something to be said for a good, old-fashioned golfing challenge, y'all.
August 11th, 7:30 AM (Ouch, early!): The Oklahoma City FORE! Championship: Lake Hefner Golf Club - North Course. FORE! This may be the most realistic word in this entire schedule. Especially at this ungodly hour.
September 8th, 9:00 AM: The Oklahoma City Do**he Bag Invitational: Cimarron Trails. Disclaimer: This is a joke (or is it?). Either way, bring your most impressive golf etiquette (or lack thereof) for this aptly named competition.
October 6th, 9:00 AM: The Oklahoma City The Last Gasp: Firelake Golf Club & Casino. This may be the most appropriately named event of the season. By this point, your swing will likely resemble a flailing pool noodle, but hey, there's always next year, right? (Famous last words...)
