Goat Tying saddles! 🐐🤠What key parts do you need? Let’s talk about it!
A big one that I want on my saddle are HEAVY stirrups & a LOW cantle.
Weighted or heavy stirrups are a great safety measure to add to your tool box.
This ensures that your fenders and stirrups go back into resting place once you’ve kicked your left foot out. (Not pushing your foot out)
Having a lower cantle lets you use your hips to swing low over instead of throwing your upper body forward to get your right leg up high enough to get over!
If you’ve ever rode my saddle, it’s HEAVY! I’ve rode wide, heavy metal stirrups my whole career until purchasing this saddle, and I have never had trouble falling in my dismounts!

Salvaging a run.. let’s talk about it!🐐
To finish the clock with a fast time there must ALWAYS be forward movement! Especially now days, that requires a 5-6 second run.
How do we do that you may ask?? Let’s evaluate this not so good run from my college career.. Did I draw fantastic? YES! Did I make a mistake? YES! However, I managed to save my mistake and stay in the present moment to place and win money at this rodeo with a 6.7!
The most common mistake I see in goat tying are athletes quickness to quit a run just because things aren’t going your way.. let this run be a reminder to trust in your training, abilities and never give up.. because you never know where the dice may fall!

Flanking!🐐 Here’s a little tip to know if you’re flanking your goat correctly at home!
Common mistakes I see:🙅‍♀️
•Driving the front leg too far across to the right
•Stepping back with your right foot as you flank. (Most girls are trying to create slack by going right instead of left)
•Looking at the back of the goat instead of their front leg
•Failure to get the goats head out of your way
•Failure to have your knee on the goats left shoulder once you hit the ground
