While the rest of our cook didn’t go as planned we did manage a 2nd place rib call out of 28 teams. Thanks to Fireball BBQ Co for supplying the rib sauce and 270 Smokers for building a great rib cooker. We are one and done for this year, see you in 2022.

Big congratulations to Steve Dotson of D'Qued BBQ and Chris Lemon of Lem's Meat Varnish who finished 1st and 3rd respectively in the backyard chicken category at the York County BBQ Festival today.

Both pitmasters are graduates of the Red Valley BBQ competition chicken class!! Awesome job guys!!

The Route 6 Ribfest in Coudersport PA is in the books. While we finished near the end of the pack of 16 teams (not surprisingly due to only having three days to prep) we had a great time seeing our friends and making a few new ones. We did manage a 3rd place chicken call. Congrats to Uncle Pigs on RGC and Fred Vegas Smokers on the GC. Thanks to Bill and Hope on the assist today. Thanks to for an awesome smoker and for great charcoal. Last competition of the year is in a few weeks at Oinktoberfest in Clarence NY.

Having finally recovered from our weekend at the Almost Heaven BBQ Bash in Roanoke, WV, we figured it was time to post the results. Friday night saw us get our butt handed to us in the SCA event finishing 25th of 27 teams. Regardless of our finish Keith and Angel Todd ran another great contest. Saturday saw us finish 6th in chicken and 15th overall out of a tough field of competitors. Jody Light ran another exceptional competition in a new location at the Stonewall Resort. Can't wait until next year!! Next up is an SCA in Hartville, OH this weekend.

Not exactly the outcome we were hoping for. 9th in chicken, 13th in ribs, 19th in pork, and 18th in brisket for 14th overall. While it wasn’t a GC cook, we were hoping it was good enough for top 10, but wasn’t to be. We are happy for our best finish in Ohio and may be back depending on how next year plays out. Thanks to Royal Oak Charcoal for fueling our fires all season, Günter Wilhelm for helping us slice our meat straight, and 270 Smokers for the best cooker on the planet. See y’all next year.

First contest in Ohio is not off to a firing start. Dealing with frozen pork products and temperatures have not been favorable to thawing. Have another four hours to get the butts as thawed as possible. Not real worried about ribs as they were half thawed with 12 hours until they have to go in the 270. Not a great start, but going to make the needed adjustments and keeping plugging on.
