I use visuals to show each step of the morning process—getting dressed, brushing teeth, breakfast, etc. My kiddo knows exactly what’s coming next, and it’s reduced the morning chaos so much. Plus, they get to check off each step, which adds a bit of fun!

One word: Timers ⏲️

I can't tell you how much using a timer has helped with transitions in our house.

Whether it’s for screen time, getting ready for bed, or transitioning from one activity to another, setting a timer gives my child with autism and ADHD a clear boundary and helps them mentally prepare for what’s coming next.

It really cuts down on the resistance and gives both of us a little more peace in the process. 🙌

🌟 Mom Hack Monday 🌟

Mamas, let’s be real—there are some things we just dread doing. Whether it’s folding laundry, filling out forms for school, or tackling that endless to-do list, the hardest part is getting started, right?

Here’s a hack that’s saved me so much time and stress: Set a timer for just 5 minutes.

That’s it. Tell yourself you’ll only work on that dreaded task for 5 minutes. Most of the time, once you’ve started, you end up doing way more than you thought you would. And if not? Well, at least you knocked out 5 minutes! 👏

This trick has been a lifesaver, especially when managing the extra demands of mom life with autism and ADHD in the mix. Little wins add up! 💪

Today, I had a discussion with two women I didn't really even know about self-care. Because that's what I do. 🤷🏻‍♀️

One has been under the weather recently and we were talking about trusting our bodies and paying more attention when our body tells us something is wrong. To stop "pushing through" because we have to go, go, go, or do everything for someone else.

I said, "As moms and women, we always put ourselves on the back burning. Sometimes we don't even get out of the fridge." To which I got a resounding, "YES!"

I said, "That has to stop. We can't take care of our kids, lean into our careers, or do anything well if our bodies aren't well. And sometimes that looks like doing things we don't enjoy—waking up early to workout, eating all the greens, resting when we feel like more needs done..."

Self-care isn't about salon trips and glamour. It's about taking care of our bodies and feeding our souls—whatever that looks like for you.

The Magic of "Yes":

Okay, moms… let’s talk about the power of saying yes. 👀

I know, I know… we spend a lot of our day saying "no" to our kids:

No, you can't jump on the couch.
No, we’re not having cookies for breakfast.
No, you can't paint the cat. 🎨🐈‍⬛

But I tried something that changed the game: Saying yes to the little things.

One day, instead of shutting down every wild request, I started saying “yes” in ways that worked for me.

Yes, you can jump – on the trampoline.
Yes, you can have a snack – how about some fruit?
Yes, you can paint – but let’s do it outside.

Suddenly, the constant pushback and tantrums became fewer, and my kids felt like they were winning. Spoiler alert: I felt like I was winning too.

Last week, after another long, exhausting day, I found myself collapsing on the couch. My mind started racing with all the things I didn’t get done: "You didn’t play enough with the kids today." "Dinner wasn’t even healthy." "You should be doing more."

And just like that, I was stuck in a loop of self-doubt. 😔

I was counting down until tomorrow.

I have been planning a workshop to help moms find ways to overcome the overwhelm, judgment, and isolation they so often feel, especially when parenting a high-needs child.

Then my Monday Monday'd. Hard! I spent the whole day searching for my car keys. And it's WAY worse than it sounds! Not only had my keys gone missing – they were 80 miles away missing! And to find out I had to do a lot of texting, calling, and driving.

Then throw in our standard therapy appointments that continue week to week (day to day!) and my entire day was gone.

As if that all wasn't enough, I had initially started my day planning to send a "hello" email to everyone in my space, only to find my email service was locked with no way to get in. 🫠

Now it's Wednesday and I wasn't able to tell everyone to meet me for this workshop, which is really disappointing. So...

I'm moving it to TUESDAY, JULY 30th! Come join me!

My email is back up and running – it only took 3 days! I have my keys again, after a lovely rainy jaunt to Ohio and back. And it appears life is back to our typical hectic routine.
