This page has been quiet for a couple months but this one and this team deserves a post. First off, it’s been truly overwhelming how many race fans, friends, fellow competitors/crews, Wissota members, etc. that have reached out to congratulate. We’ve tried to keep up on all the comments and messages and we thank you all!
It’s taken 25 years to get to this point, running 2-3 cars a night, 4 nights a week, every week of the summer, spring and fall. It’s what our family loves to do but it hasn’t been without plenty of sacrifices. And for that, I thank my wife and kids for their constant support and understanding. They are the reason I can make this race life/real life balance look easy.
Over the years I’ve had the best pit crew and crew chiefs a guy could ask for. They dedicated their time to me and my success, and took time away from their own hobbies and families to help me get to this point. Every single one of them over the years has been valuable to me. Shop hours, tire work, maintenance, parts runners, hauling cars to tracks, wrenching nonstop at the track. They all volunteer their time and don’t get near the recognition they deserve!
Lastly, we have been extremely fortunate for the sponsors we’ve had over the years. From my first sponsors when I first started out, to the car owner I have today, I don’t want to ever forget any of those who helped me along the way and got me going. The last 500+ wins, Jeff Sell & the West Metro name has been a staple of the 7a and we are beyond grateful to him and his team for all they do! Hopefully him & Sherri stick around for 500 more!
It was a special moment to win it at my home track where it all began and to have my Grandpa Dean able to make it to victory lane like he did so many times in the beginning. And to have my son home from college for the weekend and all my family there- it couldn’t have worked out more perfectly (even though on Saturday it felt unachievable). Gonna enjoy this one for a few days and then get back after it at the Red Clay Classic!
