The 7th grade team had a fun and exciting time at the Wartburg Women’s and Men’s basketball games yesterday. They also enjoyed eating at the campus dining center (lots of ice cream consumed) and shopping at the Wartburg store.

Our games at Wapsie for today have been cancelled. We will do our best to find a makeup date. We have no practice tomorrow due to the 1:00 scheduled early out. We have games on Monday vs. Union at the middle school, with the 8th grade playing first at 4:15. We will make a decision on Saturday's 7th grade trip to Wartburg once we see what the weather is doing on Saturday morning.

The 7th grade game, starting at 4:15, against West Central will be at the Oelwein High School gym. The 8th grade will practice at the middle school from 3:20 - 5:00.

Our games tomorrow are in Dysart at the Union Middle School (see map). It is a 56 mile trip. The 8th grade starts at 4:15. As soon as we get there we will find out if any extra quarters will be played, and then we’ll send out a message with an estimate on when the 7th grade will start. If any player is riding home with another family it needs to be cleared with Mr. Hurley at the middle school before we leave, so please email him (and Coach Robinson) as soon as possible. Being it’s our first game and on the road, make sure to double check that you have everything (jersey, shorts, socks, undershirt, etc.) ready to go tonight. I’m assuming they still charge to get in, so families be prepared with cash. Concessions should be available. Let us know if you have any questions.

Any OMS 7th grade boy that wants to play basketball just needs to show up for practice to get on the team, even if they missed the preseason meeting. Practice starts today, 3:20 - 5:00 pm.

One correction and update to our schedule. On Wednesdays the 7th and 8th graders will practice together from 4:00 - 5:30 PM. Also, we will have our individual and team pictures taken on the first Wednesday, January 8. Picture envelopes were handed out at the meeting before break, but will have more to send home on Monday in case they got lost (No chance, right?🤣).

Our first practice of the 2025 season is on Monday, Jan. 6! 7th grade will practice from 3:20 - 5:00 PM, and 8th grade will practice from 4:30 - 6:00 PM this whole first week. Please share this page with anyone you think would be interested or will have a student involved in this program. Parents, players, and families will want to be part of the Remind group (OMS Boys Basketball) to get all of the messages that will be sent out throughout the season.
