Today Colton finally got the haircut he has been begging for… been begging for several years now!

I have let him buzz it a little but just enough to still somewhat camouflage the scars… I was hesitant to let him shave his head a little slicker because I knew what was underneath all that hair. I knew there were scars from surgeries, procedures, and battles that most people could never imagine. But he wanted to look like his Paw Paw, so we did it.

When I looked at the back of his head, all those emotions came rushing back.

A story of a little boy who was never supposed to make it to his first birthday…

A story of hospital rooms, long nights, prayers, fear and hope.

A story of strength, determination and God’s faithfulness.

What I saw today wasn’t a head full of scars. I saw miracles. Each scar tells its own story… each one adds to his mighty testimony!

Each scar is proof of a battle fought and won. Proof of prayers answered. Proof that God was not and is not finished with Colton yet.

Those scars represent the countless surgeries that have given him the chance to keep growing, laughing, loving and living his best life!

So today instead of seeing all the scars… I see blessings.

And what a testimony it has been to be his mom and to witness the miracle that continues to unfold every single day!

Several people have reached out asking about Paw Paw and when his surgery will be.

Paw Paw’s surgery to remove his meningioma brain tumor is scheduled for June 25th. Overall, he seems to be doing ok… or if you ask him he will tell you he is doing fine!… but not being able to drive has probably been one of the hardest adjustments for him. As many of you know he has always been on the go and has spent countless hours picking Colton up and taking him to and from all the things that Colton loves to do. So it’s been quite an adjustment for Colton as well.

Based on what we have learned… the surgery could last anywhere from 6 to 12 hours or maybe longer… so it will be a very long day for all of us. We likely won’t know the exact surgery time until the day before.

One thing we do know is that Colton is determined to be at the hospital that day. If anyone understands surgeries, hospitals, and long recoveries… it’s him. Their bond is something special! Paw Paw has been one of Colton’s biggest supporters throughout his life.

We are so grateful for all the prayers, calls, messages, and concern that have been shown to our family. Please continue to keep Paw Paw, his surgeons, and our family in your prayers as we approach surgery day. We will share updates as we are able.

Thank you all for loving and supporting our family. It takes a village!

A few have reached out asking how can they help… for now just pray. Once surgery is over and we know when Paw Paw will be discharged from the hospital to home… I will set up a meal train for Nanny and Paw Paw.

Colton is ready for the 10th grade!!!

9th grade has been so good to him! This has for sure been one of his best years! He absolutely loves being at the high school! He is sad over the ones that have graduated and won’t be there next year!

Thank you SCCHS for loving Colton like you do! ♥️

Well you sure wouldn’t know by the look of Colton here that he woke up running 103.9 fever! He has a yucky UTI and something respiratory working on him…. We are waiting results on it. But in the meantime we have started some meds to get him well!

🚨 Uber Request 🚨

Paw Paw and Colton are looking for a chauffeur next Wednesday to get them to the Saints softball game in Albertville!

Paw Paw is currently under no driving orders from his doctor until his brain tumor surgery, and apparently Colton’s wheelchair doesn’t qualify him to drive either… so these two are needing a ride!

I’ve got Cruze’s awards day plus a dental appointment that same day. Or I would chauffeur them there!

If anyone is gonna be headed that way next Wednesday and can help transport this dynamic duo, we would greatly appreciate it! Fair warning though… you may have to listen to Paw Paw tell stories and Colton critique everybody’s ball playing the entire ride! But you would sure make Colton happy to be able to cheer his girls on!

Last night was senior night… the last game of the season, and it hit a little harder than expected for Colton.

Colton has loved every single minute of getting to be at the ball field, praying with the team before games, watching his buddies play the game they love. Even though he can’t be out there on the field, being part of it by cheering them on, laughing with them, and just being included has meant everything to him.

On the way home, he got emotional talking about it… especially knowing the seniors he’s grown close to are about to graduate. Those boys may not realize it, but they’ve made a bigger impact on him than they’ll ever know.

Baseball may not be something Colton can physically play, but the friendships, the memories, and just being included that’s something no one can take away from him.

Colton will definitely miss these seniors. Once a Saint, always a Saint!!

♥️⚾️⚜️

And we can’t talk about baseball season without talking about Paw Paw… his chauffeur, his sidekick, and his biggest supporter. Getting Colton to and from those games, making sure he never missed a moment… it’s something Colton is so thankful for and something we will always be grateful for too. Especially with Paw Paw dealing with all he has this year… skin cancer, the cancer treatments and now waiting for surgery to remove the meningioma tumor from his brain. Colton just might get his strength and little bit of stubbornness from his Paw Paw.

Colton is facing another surgery soon. His right foot has started turning almost backwards, and we have to carefully position it when he’s in his wheelchair. This has made transferring more difficult for him and for us.

We are hopeful this surgery will help correct his foot positioning and give him a little more independence… especially when it comes to transfers.

This boy right here is strong, resilient, and always smiling through it all. We would appreciate all the prayers as we walk into this next chapter.

No date yet for surgery… but as soon as I get a date I will let you all know!

We are asking for prayers for someone very special to our family… most of you know him as Colton’s Paw Paw. He has been diagnosed with a meningioma (a tumor in the front of his brain) and will need surgery to remove it. We don’t have a date yet, but we know the road ahead will take lots of strength and faith.

Right now, Paw Paw can’t drive, which means Colton’s sidekick and biggest supporter is having to slow down for a bit. If you know them, you know they are always together… you never know when that minivan is going to roll up to an SCCHS game with the two of them hopping out ready to go.

Please lift Paw Paw up in your prayers! Pray for healing, pray for a smooth surgery, and pray for peace over our family during this time. And we’re already praying that once this is all behind him, Paw Paw and Colton will be back at it and making more memories, showing up to games, and heading out on many more adventures together.

We are trusting God every step of the way.
