Today Colton finally got the haircut he has been begging for… been begging for several years now!
I have let him buzz it a little but just enough to still somewhat camouflage the scars… I was hesitant to let him shave his head a little slicker because I knew what was underneath all that hair. I knew there were scars from surgeries, procedures, and battles that most people could never imagine. But he wanted to look like his Paw Paw, so we did it.
When I looked at the back of his head, all those emotions came rushing back.
A story of a little boy who was never supposed to make it to his first birthday…
A story of hospital rooms, long nights, prayers, fear and hope.
A story of strength, determination and God’s faithfulness.
What I saw today wasn’t a head full of scars. I saw miracles. Each scar tells its own story… each one adds to his mighty testimony!
Each scar is proof of a battle fought and won. Proof of prayers answered. Proof that God was not and is not finished with Colton yet.
Those scars represent the countless surgeries that have given him the chance to keep growing, laughing, loving and living his best life!
So today instead of seeing all the scars… I see blessings.
And what a testimony it has been to be his mom and to witness the miracle that continues to unfold every single day!
