Today, we remember. 🇺🇸

September 11 is a day that asks us to stop.

To remember the lives that were lost.

The families whose lives changed forever.

The first responders who ran toward what others were running from.

And the countless acts of courage, compassion, and humanity that emerged from an unimaginable day.

Yoga teaches us to be present—to resist the urge to look away from what is difficult and instead meet it with awareness, compassion, and an open heart.

Today, our practice can simply be remembrance.

A breath for those who were lost.

A moment of gratitude for those who served.

A little more kindness toward the person beside us.

May we remember not only the tragedy of that day, but also how deeply we are capable of showing up for one another.

We remember. We honor. We breathe. We choose compassion.

Never forget. 🇺🇸

As we transition into fall, we are reminded of the profound lessons in letting go. Just like trees shedding their leaves, we too must release what no longer serves us. This September, take a moment to reflect on what you’re ready to let go of as we embrace new beginnings. Join us at Soleil Lune as we explore this theme through yoga and mindful practices. Let’s move forward together!

Chakras are doorways between our inner and outer worlds—bridges between what is seen and what is unseen.

They offer an invisible framework for understanding ourselves with remarkable range and precision: energy, emotion, thought, intuition, connection, and physical well-being.

And yes, we know. You can’t see them.
You also can’t see Wi-Fi, but somehow we’re all deeply distressed when that stops flowing. 😉

When energy moves freely, we experience greater balance and vitality. When it becomes stagnant, depleted, or excessive, we often feel it—in the body, in our thoughts, in our relationships, and occasionally in that wildly disproportionate reaction to someone chewing too loudly.

The chakra system asks us to look beneath the surface.

Where are we open—and where are we guarded?
Grounded—or hanging on by a very spiritual thread?
Speaking our truth—or composing the perfect response three hours later in the shower?
Trusting—or attempting to control absolutely everything while calling it being organized?

Perhaps dis-ease is sometimes exactly that: a place within us that has lost its ease.

The chakras give us a map—not to diagnose us, define us, or provide yet another opportunity to announce that our throat chakra is blocked instead of simply having the difficult conversation.

They invite us into deeper awareness of the relationship between body, mind, energy, and spirit.

Seven centers.
Seven doorways.
One beautifully complicated human being trying to keep them all open.

No pressure. ✨

Direction rarely arrives with fireworks, a marching band, or a giant neon sign from God (although…that would make things easier).

More often, it whispers.

Finding direction for our lives begins by noticing where God quietly shows up in the ordinary moments we usually rush past. Between the endless to-do lists, notifications, responsibilities, and the belief that we need to have it all figured out yesterday, we often miss the sacred hiding in plain sight.

Stillness isn’t doing nothing. It’s paying attention.

When we slow down long enough to become present, we begin to recognize what is bringing life into us…and what is quietly draining it away. Those moments become an ongoing conversation with God, shaping our prayers, our relationships, our work, and ultimately, who we are becoming.

So before you scroll, solve, fix, or plan tomorrow, find the quiet within and ask yourself:

• For what moment today am I most grateful?
• For what moment today am I least grateful?
• When did I give and receive the most love?
• When did I give and receive the least love?
• What was the most life-giving part of my day?
• What was the most life-draining part?
• When did I feel most connected to God, to others, and to myself?
• When did I feel the most disconnected?
• Where did I live from the fruit of the Spirit?
• Where was it noticeably absent?

These aren’t questions to shame you. They’re invitations to wake you up.

Because perspective doesn’t come from having all the answers. It comes from noticing where God has been walking beside you all along.

As His Spirit enlightens and enlivens your heart, you begin to remember the person He created you to be—not the one striving to earn approval, keep everyone happy, or prove your worth.

And from that place, His calling becomes less about finding the “right” path and more about faithfully becoming the right person.

Be.
Go.
Do.

The world doesn’t need another exhausted human chasing purpose.

It needs someone awake enough to recognize they’ve been walking with it all along.

Meet Bonnie

Bonnie is a retired career firefighter—which means while most of us would be running away from chaos, she was professionally trained to sprint directly into it. Casual.

That same fearless energy shows up on the mat. Bonnie brings grounded strength, steady encouragement, and the kind of fortitude that lovingly nudges you toward the places you’d usually avoid—physically, mentally, and emotionally. You know… the exact places where growth tends to hide while pretending it’s “too much.”

She is no stranger to doing hard things, and she’s deeply inspired by watching her students do hard things too. Expect a class that challenges you in all the right ways—a little fire in your muscles, a little honesty with yourself, and hopefully fewer excuses from your inner drama queen.

What we love most about Bonnie? She’s refreshingly real. She leads with compassion, honesty, and intuitive insight. She knows when to push, when to pause, and when everyone in the room needs a reminder that they are capable of far more than they think.

She’s also hilarious. Truly. You’ll likely leave class feeling stronger, more grounded, and wondering when your yoga teacher somehow became your favorite new friend.

Bonnie has been with our studio since July 2024 and completed her RYT 200 with Trish & Kate at Soleil Lune in 2023. So yes… she’s officially one of ours, and we’re very proud of that.

Her heart is on fire to help you become your most brilliant self. Come get BENT with Bonnie.

And don’t worry—you probably won’t get burned. 🔥😉

Meet Serena - Will Bend for Plants

Don’t be distracted by the serenity of Serena’s quieter disposition. She’s a f*cking brick house beast of a mother of 4- two of which are twins! Also, if you hang around the studio long enough, you’ll soon realize she’s not that quiet, is suuuuper sarcastic, and has the most excellent go-to-the-gutter thinking!

Serena is a fiery, piano playing, plant whisperer, Phish stalker, and an Oh-So-Awesome-Plant-Eating-Human who just so happens to be a fabulous yoga teacher. How did we get so lucky??

She’s committed to the daily work of being on her mat and loves to be around others who are as well. You can expect to get right to it in her classes and get sh*t done. In the best way.

We love that her classes and teaching are reflections of who she is as a person - direct and straight to the point, all substance, and no fluff! Well okay…. she can be caught reading smutty romance novels!! Her passion for the practice and lifestyle of yoga are extremely evident and her classes are set to groovy yoga tunes with beats you can feel.

Her commitment to yoga and our SLYC community is evident in her very regular attendance as a student as well as a steadfast and vital member of our weird teaching crew.

Serena has been a member of SLYC since 2017 and a teacher since 2020. She graduated from the illustrious SLYC yoga school with her 200hr teaching certificate during the pandemic in 2020. Yes that’s right - Even a world wide pandemic wasn’t going to stop Serena!

When not teaching or practicing yoga you’ll find Serena reading romance novels (yeah, we weren’t kidding 🤪), running, lifting weights, gardening, and tending to her amazing family and their active lifestyle.

Come see the Yoga in Action and get bent with Serena!

Give us👏🏻🙌🏻 in the comments for Serena!

Prana: The Life Force You’re Already Working With

You know that moment when you walk into a room and instantly feel the collective mood?
That’s you sensing prana, whether or not you call it that.

In yoga, prana is the vital life force—the subtle current that animates breath, movement, mood, and, yes, the energy you feel from the person on the mat next to you who’s already having A Day.

What to know as a student:
✨ Your breath is your prana’s steering wheel.
✨ How you breathe directly affects how you feel.

What to know as a teacher:
✨ Prana awareness can shift your cueing from mechanical to intuitive.
✨ Energetics aren’t woo—they’re the subtle language your students already speak.

Welcome to the invisible half of the practice.

📸 “Just another forward fold?”

Nah. This is a full-blown journey inward, baby.

At Soleil Lune, we know the pose is just the gateway. The real magic happens in the quiet moments—the deep breaths, the self-talk, the surrender. What you're seeing here? It's not just hamstrings on fire (though…yes, that too). It’s someone doing the hard, holy work of turning inward.

✨ Because yoga isn’t just about stretching your body—it’s about stretching your awareness.

We, your weird, supportive, sarcastic-as-hell Soleil Lune crew, take the responsibility of holding space seriously. (Well…not too seriously—we’re still us.) We create sacred containers for transformation: where you can laugh, sweat, cry, swear, and actually feel something other than pressure to “nail the pose.”

💡 So if you’ve been craving something deeper than trendy sequencing and perfect lighting…

You’re in the right place.

Here, we do THE yoga.

The kind that gets under your skin (in a good way).

The kind that sticks with you off the mat.

The kind that changes you.

Come see what it’s really about.

👐 Assists: Helpful or Just… Weird?

You know that moment when someone drops into your space mid-pose with the enthusiasm of a human foam roller and you're like… “Was that supposed to help?”

Yeah. We’ve all been there.

Assists can be incredible. They can ground a nervous system, create space in the body, or help a student finally understand what “lengthen your spine” actually feels like. But without clarity, consent, and some basic body knowledge? It’s easy for things to get awkward—or worse, unsafe.

Because let’s be real:
🧠 Great assists aren’t about fixing people. They’re about facilitating feeling.
💬 And no one wants to be surprise-adjusted into a spinal twist they didn’t sign up for.

✨ Try This:
For Teachers:
Before you reach out, pause. Ask yourself:
👉 What am I helping this student feel?
👉 Have I asked for consent today?
👉 Am I grounded and clear—or winging it and hoping for the best?
Use one hand for direction, one for support. Observe before you act. Sometimes, the most effective assist is saying nothing and simply holding space.

For Students:
Next time someone offers an assist, check in with yourself.
👉 Do I want this right now?
👉 Does this feel supportive—or confusing?
It’s 100% okay to say “no thanks.” Your body, your choice.

Assists should never be performative. They should be purposeful. Whether you're teaching or taking class, the goal isn’t perfection—it’s presence.

We all find our yoga practice to be so powerful because of the depth of surrender and discipline. Devotion, dedication, determination and discipline are what every yoga practitioner needs.

Ask yourself this: what are you willing to sacrifice in order to attain your goals? The bigger the goals, the greater the need for surrender.

Can you sit down on the inside? Can you silence the internal crazy and incessant chatter? Can you be still enough to listen.....to wait.....and respond when the invitation is given?

Only when you are willing to give everything up in total surrender to God, will He reveal the path He has planned for you. His plan for you has always been there. Your specific path will only be available when you are ready.

Like a chick hatching from its egg, authentic awakening cannot be rushed. Be patient. Practice every day. Be ready for God's invitation. Say YES and prepare for one wild ride!
