I never take a cold plunge in the evening. However, after realizing that my soul needed weaning (Psalm 131:2), I chose to temper my soul for ten minutes in frigid water—reflecting on and releasing the disappointments of the day. As I emerged from the water, not only had my inflammation subsided, but my soul was also stilled. Sometimes, the best way to find calm is to walk through adversity.
