Relentless Pursuit of Excellence

Krause Performance builds dominant athletes by increasing their explosive speed, powerful acceleration and reactive agility so they can play at the highest youth levels and eventually at the college level.

Speed fades fast, and it starts before you can see it. Eight to twelve weeks without real speed work can cost an athlete a full mile per hour off their top speed and nearly 13% of their power. And the most common injuries in youth sports — non-contact ACL tears, pulled hamstrings — are the ones speed training is built to prevent.

Every one of those problems has the same solution, and it's smaller than you'd think. Not more volume. Not another thing to be exhausted by. Just consistent, high-quality speed work through the season.

Here's what that produces. Athletes training at a USR Speed Lab like ours average:

+1.76" on their vertical jump in 90 days

+5" on their broad jump in 90 days

That's not maintenance. That's athletes getting more explosive while they compete.

And this isn't a handful of kids. Speed Labs across the country logged 29,162 personal records between June 1 and August 4 this year. The athletes who kept training kept improving. The exact same thing works in-season.

So here's the honest pitch: your athlete is going to spend the next three months competing. They can spend those three months slowly losing what they built this summer, or they can spend them getting faster and harder to hurt.

That's what the Year-Round Athlete Development Program at Krause Performance is for. Low fatigue, high quality, built around their game schedule. The schedule is set to begin September 8th, giving our athletes the opportunity to attend up to 3 sessions per week throughout the year, including a spot for next summer as well.

You don't have to choose, playing the season and keeping your speed aren't opposites. Speed isn’t something you build in the summer and then store.

It's a skill.

Skills need to be touched, or they fade. Athletes who continue to treat speed that way finish the season faster, healthier, and ahead of where they started rather than rebuilding what was lost. It takes far less work to hold onto speed than it does to rebuild it. A little bit, done right, done consistently, protects everything you've earned this summer.

Stay fast. Stay healthy. Come out of this season faster than you went in. It's not a big time commitment. It's just a consistent one.

In-season is when it counts— and when speed training
disappears.

Speed isn't something you build in the summer and then store. It's a skill. Skills need to be touched, or they fade.

And a season doesn't maintain it:

Game speed is chaotic and reactive. Athletes rarely hit true top-end speed in a game, and almost never for long enough to train it.
Conditioning isn't speed work. Gassers and tempo runs build a tolerance for fatigue. They don't build top-end speed or clean mechanics.
Practice reps add fatigue without adding speed. That's the worst combination there is.

So the athlete grinds through 12 weeks of games, and comes out the other side slower than they went in. Then they spend the winter rebuilding what they already had in August.

The athletes who keep some real speed work on the calendar don't have that problem. They finish the season faster, healthier, and ahead of where they started.

Summer has been off to a great start with all of our athletes working hard and improving. Still 3 weeks to go, excited to see everyone continue to progress as we begin to phase into more deceleration, change of direction and Game Speed. This is why we measure what matters! Universal Speed Rating

Time to spotlight our Athletes of the Month from June... congrats to Gabby (Gabby K), CC (Carolina (Cc) Wilson), Reilly (Alexandra Erickson-Hagerstrom), Maurice (Cph Young), Jacob () and Gabriel (gabriel.balik). June was not an easy month, with the ending of spring seasons, school, graduations, etc but these athletes all put in the work. Looking forward to seeing who our Athletes of the Month for July will be! Universal Speed Rating
