Invaluable in offshore sailing and also great for recovering crew overboard!

Heaving to (heave to / hove to) involves parking the boat while out at sea. It's easy to do but it takes a little practice as every boat is different!

How's that for some weather?? Never mind the lightning and waterspouts, those hailstones are as big as naval oranges!

Video filmed in the Gulf of Naples, Italy over the weekend of a small fishing boat stuck offshore in a dangerous hail storm, but these guys seem to just laugh it off as apple-sized ice chunks rain down on them. Footage by Rosario Chiocca via Facebook Related

Great interview at the bottom of the article. There are still places all over this planet where sailors can be shipwrecked and stranded even with modern technology! The salvage mission should be incredible!

A great course for new boaters and a great refresher for those that have been on the water for years. The instructors are great and have a wealth of knowledge and experience. I would recommend this course to anyone.
