We have started doing more of our finisher medals in house or domestically.
The positive is we are supporting US manufacturing, can be a lot more accurate in our ordering, and can easily address shortages that might arise the week of.
The negative is we are limited to printed aluminum, steel, wood, or acrylic. We have not found a company that offers diecast, enamel filled domestically.
The cost per piece is equivalent on our end.
Internationally sourced products have increased 30%+ due to fuel and tariffs. We also have to plan over a month in advance in order to get them on time. This makes estimating numbers extremely difficult. It is very rare we underestimate participation, meaning we are spending hundreds of $$$ on extra medals.
The money we save by ordering as needed allow us to invest more in custom bibs, better shirts, more signage and deeper age group awards.
