Founded in 1994, the first Philadelphia Rock Gym was built by two college friends (Matt & Greg) who had a vision-to bring their passion and enthusiasm for climbing back to their hometown and to make a living doing what they loved. By taking the novel step of bringing climbing inside, they became one of the first indoor climbing centers in the US.

Pushing Boundaries on the Wall 🧗

Did you know PRG hosts adaptive climbing programs?

Each summer, Philadelphia Rock Gym, Oaks partners with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia(CHOP) to host Camp Rock, a two-week, no-cost adaptive rock-climbing day camp for children and teens ages 8–17 with limb differences.

Over the summer, 41 campers took on new challenges, learned climbing skills, participated in creative group activities, and built connections in a fun, supportive environment.

Led by the CHOP clinical team, alongside PRG climbing professionals, campers discovered new possibilities on the wall while building confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging.

For some campers, Camp Rock offers something especially meaningful: the chance to meet another child with a limb difference for the very first time.

As Camp Rock director and CHOP occupational therapist Meagan Pehnke shared, “It felt profound to be able to provide this opportunity to the kids and their parents.”

🌙 Less than one week until Midnight Burn takes over Oaks!

Setters are getting ready. Climbers are getting psyched. And we're about to kick off another season of Burn where it all began.

Heads up, Oaks crew! We stripped the old side Sunday, 10/18 after 6 PM, and the new side will follow Wednesday, 10/21. All bouldering will be closed after Wednesday's strip until the comp!

Youth registration is SOLD OUT, and only 13 adult spots remain! We're gonna sell out, so snag your spot while you can!

Not competing? Come be part of the action! We're looking for volunteer judges. Score a free shirt, free food, and a front-row seat to watch some seriously strong climbers throw down.

A great new partnership and the beginning of something special! 🧗

We were excited to welcome members of East Goshen Township's Ping Pong Parkinson’s group to our weekly Up ENDing Parkinson’s meetups at PRG Malvern!

đź‘Ź A big thank-you to everyone who came out to give climbing a try, and to our wonderful belayers and volunteers, Tara and Jen, for helping make the experience so welcoming.

We loved showing our new climbers the ropes and watching them reach new heights! Whether it was a first time climbing or simply a first time on our walls, it was a wonderful opportunity to connect, build community, and discover what’s possible together.

Through our partnership with Up ENDing Parkinsons, PRG is proud to offer free weekly climbing meetups where people with Parkinson’s and their families can experience movement, encouragement, and connection in a supportive environment.

We’re just getting started, and we look forward to welcoming more climbers, strengthening partnerships, and growing this community one climb at a time!

On Friday evening, PRG was proud to sponsor Camphill Soltane's annual Autumn Under the Glass festival and fundraiser! From the fire pit and raffles to the hot air balloon glow and live music, it was a wonderful evening celebrating community and connection.

Since 1988, Camphill Soltane has partnered with people of all abilities to create equitable pathways for lifelong career development, creative skill-building, meaningful daily activities, social enrichment, and personal growth.

Our partnership began two years ago when Camphill Soltane’s rock-climbing club started climbing weekly at our Malvern location. We’re grateful to be part of their journey and proud to support an organization that shares our commitment to inclusion, connection, and community.
