RESERVES RUN RIOT. Six-star performance for Oaklyn II lifts them clear of Illyrians and within striking distance of the top of the table.

Matt Pastore had the Lions up early after a Dayvon Mbu ball took a few pinball bounces around the box before falling to the midfielder. Then Emin Gunaydin cemented POTM honors with a brace, followed by first Oaklyn career goals for Baris Tut, Mitch Alfaro, and JT Waddell.

SEVEN NIL TO THE OAKLYN. It’s always a big day when Vidas comes to town, and the Lions were firing on all cylinders last night to earn a big win and push us to within three points of second with a game in hand.

A beautiful night in Glassboro proved the perfect backdrop to an opening goal made in Rowan, as Profs standout Johnny Troiano connected with fellow alum Sergio Sola to drive a header past the keeper. Jason Mancuso had us up by three before the end of the half, with both assists courtesy of Kaelan Debbage who has an incredible FIVE in his last three games.

The second half saw changes in personnel but not in the direction of one-way traffic as Theo Da Silva and then Ethan Romito helped themselves to goals. Gabe Paz earned his first assist in an Oaklyn shirt when he served a ball for veteran Osman Barrie to power home at the far post, and Brayden Birnstiel provided a low cross for Romito to complete his brace prior to full time.

Sergio earned POTM honors at the heart of a midfield that stifled Vidas all night and kept Oaklyn on the front foot. The CB pairing of Cleary and Quintana notched a second clean sheet in a row.

For the hometown heroes. The brand new Oaklyn United home kit by is here, and it’s a beaut.

Inspired by the kits of the original Oaklyn Soccer Club in the late 90s and early 00s, subtle details abound in this throwback to an era just before soccer went mainstream in the States. And we’re proud to sport the logos of two Oaklyn institutions on the new gear, with on the front and on the sleeve.

For the first time ever, Lions supporters can buy their own kits on demand directly from Icarus. Use the link in our bio to order yours. Long sleeve versions and custom names/numbers are available.

The game is back. The game never left. Up The Lions. 🦁

THREE POINTS FROM THE GAME IN HAND. It was a stern defensive show from Boca, but the scoreline might flatter to deceive with the Lions owning 75% of the ball and living in the final third all night.

Blake Driehuis’ run down the left flank set up Jason Mancuso’s opener, before MancusGoal turned provider for - who else - Austin Johnson for his fifth of the league campaign and seventh in all competitions this fall.

Driehuis, Jade Mesias, Adam Sternberger, and Johnny Troiano all came close to making it three in what was ultimately a comfy win. Max Schrader and Kaelan Debbage anchored a clean sheet split by Lucien Maslin and CJ Norton in goal, with Schrader bagging POTM honors on his Oaklyn debut.

Surging up the table at exactly the right time - but now it’s another big test as we play again on very short rest tomorrow night.

DUG DEEP. BATTLED IN THE MUD. CAME HOME WITH THREE POINTS. Oaklyn United took on Lighthouse 1893 on Sunday to claim some much needed upward momentum in the table. The Lions were on the front foot throughout the encounter and Ethan Romito had the ball in the back of the home net early - only for a very suspect offside flag to raise. But Steven Thompson fired a rocket into the top bins after some fine build up play, just minutes before AJ20 kept up his incredible form with yet another golaso.

Defender Osman Barrie kept the back line locked down so that the attack could focus on creating chances and earned himself POTM honors.

LIONS ROAR IN GLASSBORO. In what will go down as one of the club’s finest nights to date, Oaklyn United downed a well-prepared and immensely talented VE side to move within one win of the US Open Cup proper.

The opposition certainly had the better of the first ten minutes, but smart distribution and a hungry press helped us claw our way back. When it yielded possession at the top of the box, veteran Lion Jake Mulinge pulled something right out of the top drawer - and stuck it in the top bins - to give us the lead. It was no surprise to see VE equalize given the quality they brought to the pitch, but captain Austin Johnson pulled out a worldy of his own before Jason Mancuso undersigned the insurance policy all writhing the first half.

The pivotal moment came with the score locked at 1-1. Player-coach Matt Perrella stepped up for the badge and saved a VE penalty, which seemed to set the tone for the rest of the night as the Lions battled it out to a historic result.

A ton of credit is owed to VE who exemplified class throughout the encounter. It was an honor to share the pitch in such a great advertisement for high level soccer in our area.
