Halloween should be fun, and a little planning keeps it that way. Costumes kids can see and move in, glow sticks or reflective tape for visibility, a charged phone, and a simple plan for where the group is going and when they'll be home. Meet the Instructor: Ron Davis

When you’re learning how to respond in an emergency, experience matters.

Meet Ron Davis, Director of the Split-Second Response First Aid Program. With nearly 30 years in the fire service—including 25 years with the Richmond Fire Department—Ron brings extensive frontline experience to his role.

Ron worked his way up from firefighter/EMT to engineer and then Captain, a position he has held for the past six years. Throughout his career, he has responded to hundreds of medical, rescue, and trauma emergencies and served as a CPR instructor for the Fire Department.

His qualifications include:
✅ CPR and First Aid instructor certifications from the American Red Cross and American Heart Association
✅ EMT certification
✅ HazMat specialist certification

Ron’s background connects classroom instruction with real-world emergency response—helping make preparedness personal, practical, and relevant.
