Waterville Cal Ripken Families and Community Members,
With the highest priority being the health and safety of all participants, families, volunteers and fans, Babe Ruth League, Inc. made the formal decision to forgo all Regional and World Series formats for the 2020 season. As a result, the 2020 Major/60 Cal Ripken World Series will not be taking place in the great community of Waterville, Maine this summer.
While disappointed in this news, our program is continuing to explore options for the future. Most notable, the Waterville Cal Ripken program has received commitment from Babe Ruth League, Inc. to host the Major/60 Cal Ripken World Series in the summer of 2022! This news ensures our program, the city of Waterville and the state of Maine can provide a top quality baseball experience on a grand stage for players from across the country and beyond.
The Waterville Cal Ripken program also is exploring options to host additional tournament opportunities later this fall resembling Regional & World Series events, if possible. Our hope is to be able to provide an experience to recognize our 2020 teams and players.
Additionally, our immediate focus is on local league play for the youth in our community. Once the required guidelines from the state are known and met, our hope is to start playing baseball again this summer. We additionally will be following the suggested guidelines provided by Babe Ruth League, Inc.
We would like to thank all our sponsors, community partners and volunteers who have spent their time and resources to help bring a Cal Ripken World Series to Waterville, Maine. The Waterville Cal Ripken program looks forward to providing exciting baseball opportunities in the future.
