Visit sfquakes.org for more info. The Earthquakes are a co-ed gay, le***an, and gay-friendly ice hockey team in San Francisco. Comprised of all different levels of player from all over the Bay, the SFQuakes team plays in the Yerba Buena Adult Hockey league at the YB ice rink in downtown San Francisco. The team plays in the league's "D" Division on Thursday nights. The team is mostly gay men and w
omen but welcomes anyone and everyone, as long as you want to play hockey and are gay and le***an friendly. We play straight teams, gay teams, and mixed teams. We play locally and internationally. We just love to play hockey. We have people who just picked up the sport a few years ago, we have folks that haven't played since high school, we have players in their twenties, we have players who are a bit older than that, we have a wonderfully diverse team. The team travels occasionally to participate in a number of ice hockey tournaments including most recently the 2013 Vancouver Pride Classic and the upcoming Gay Games 9 in Cleveland in August 2014. The mission of the Earthquakes hockey team is to provide an environment free of harassment and discrimination for members and friends of the LGBT community to play ice hockey and fulfill their athletic aspirations. But that is just part of it. Our goal is to play fun inclusive hockey - to have a good time on and off the rink - to try our best (so what if we lose a few games?) - to continue to be better hockey players, and to have smiles on our faces all the time. We're a fun loving bunch of people who love to play hockey with other great gay and gay-friendly folks.
